About the book

Introducing super sized science fun in bite-sized guides!

With fun, age appropriate experiments and lift the flap conclusions, the I'm a Scientist series explains science in easy to grasp terms with simple photographs and illustrations.

Little people can learn amazing facts about their bodies in I'm a Scientist: My Body.

Our Thoughts

This cute little book is part of the ones suggested for the What Did You Make on March Break promotion at DK Canada.    I was very delighted to receive this one because the oldest kids and I are studying the human body together and sometimes it would be nice to include the younger two in this learning adventure.

This book will help your child to discover how the human body works.   Geared for kids ages 5 to 9 years old, I find it can easily be adapted for a 4 years old too!   The book contains sixteen hands-on experiments to help your child discover what’s inside his/her body, learn about the heart and lungs, experience muscles power, test the senses by seeing/hearing/tasting/smelling/touching.

I think my favorite one would be the Guess Which Food It Is experiment.

Our plate, made by Alexandre, contained olive, perogie, hard candy, chocolate chip, spaghetti sauce, BBQ sauce, ketchup, and icing.

Jérémy, age 6, and Dominic, age 8, graciously volunteered to this little experiment.

Alexandre gave them the food they had to taste and identified.

Here’s Jérémy trying to identify two of the food we fed him.

Dominic, on the other hand, was funny by all his faces he made.

Their reaction whether they knew it or disliked it…  *grin*    I think the dislike one is priceless!

The small experiment didn’t take long but it can easily by tied in with the function of the tongue and how various part of it taste different things.

In the end the kids had fun trying to identify the food place in their mouth.   It is definitively an experiment to do with daddy one of these days…  and with more food selection.

Other titles in the series are available to help your child discover the Backyard, Water Fun and Kitchen.
