About the book

An Amazing, Earth-Shattering Adventure!

The Incredible Plate Tectonics Comic is a wild adventure in earth science. Follow Geo and his robot dog, Rocky, as they travel back in time to Pangea, surf a tsunami, and escape an erupting volcano—all in time for Geo’s first-period science test!

The journey starts 200 million years ago and takes you to modern-day Hawai’i, the ocean floor, and deep inside the Earth.

You’ll learn:

  • How scientists developed the theory of plate tectonics
  • Why the Earth shakes
  • What’s in the center of the Earth
  • How volcanoes can form islands

The Incredible Plate Tectonics Comic will teach you about geology in a fun, lively, and visual way.

My Thoughts

What an ingenious way to present earth science to kids!    In this wild adventure you will follow Geo and his robot dog, Rocky, as they travel back in time to Pangea, surf a tsunami, and escape a volcano.   In this comic book, your child will learn more about tectonic plates and how it affects our planet.    They will start with learning that tectonic plates are like giant puzzle pieces.  Slowly throughout the comic, they will learn about how the seafloor can spread, discover about magnets, take a journey to the center of the Earth, learn about earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis and discover what a geologist do for a living.

Below are some examples of the comic pages.

But that’s not all.  At the end of the comic, you will have pages which give more information about the things covered in the comic.   And the last page of the book offers geology activities – which can also be found at http://www.nostarch.com/tectonicsactivities.

This comic book is a great way to introduce your kids to tectonic plates and how they affect our planet.   I wish I had this comic book when we studied geology last year.  But it can be a good revision for my kids to read this.

The Incredible Plate Tectonics Comic is available for purchase at your favourite bookstore, even on amazon.ca and amazon.com.
