Design Originals Creative Coloring

The popularity of adult coloring book has continued to grow over the past year and many different books have come out on the market.     Design Originals have numerous adult coloring books to choose from and I had the opportunity to receive four of their titles:  Creative Coloring Birds, Creative Coloring Botanicals, Creative Coloring Flowers, and Creative Coloring Animals.

Each of these contains 30 ready to color illustrations that will help you to decompress and relax after a difficult day.   You do not have to have the skills of an artist to color these marvelous book.  Just pick up colored pencil or markers and fill the pages with color.   You will also find easy to follow tips on how to color the designs found in each of these books.   Also each pages are printed on high-quality paper which will not allow bleeding if you use markers (I know because I used Koi Watercolor brush pens in mine and it was fabulous!).  All the pages in these books are perforated which will allow you to easily remove them if you desire to display them .   Behind each of the drawing you will find a saying that could encourage you.

The books are quite easy to carry around to bring with you if you need to do so for personal reasons.  All you will have to do is pack some pencils or markers in order to color while you wait to an appointment.   

These books would also make a great Christmas gift for anyone who desire to get new adult coloring books for 2017.

Zenspirations

With the popularity of bible art journaling pouring through the internet whether on Pinterest or facebook groups dedicated to the trend, I have seen numerous people highly recommending the books of Zenspirations from Joanne Fink.  I was somewhat curious about them and decided to approach the publisher to see what was the fuss all about.  I have received two of the Zenspirations books to review.

Zenspirations Dangle Designs – Expanded Edition

Zenspirations Letters & Patterning

My Thoughts

To be honest I am a bit disappointed with the size of the books.  Both are quite thin with respectively 34 and 50 pages.    Though I must admit that they would be light if you decide to bring them with you to appointments or on a trip.   The Dangle Designs book was the expanded version which allow the person to practice within the pages of the book.  Both books offer advice on how to construct a dangle and offer numerous ideas on how to do one by yourself.  In the Letters & Patterning book, the author will also offers advice on the tools and materials, pen techniques as well as watercolors to embellish the dangles.

Needless to say if you enjoy doing craft and enjoy bible art journaling, these books offer numerous ideas on how to decorate and/or journal.    However, I would strongly suggest that you be wise with your money and look for sales for these titles because honestly I couldn’t justify the amount suggested for them in my head.

If you are still on the lookout for something special for someone in your life who enjoy journaling then these two books are great to expand their drawing skills.

My Thoughts

Recently I have reviewed the Rainbow Loom and to be honest the product could seem overwhelming at first.  So imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered a couple of books that will guide you in creating wondering  things with it – from bracelets to earrings.   Here’s the first book titled Totally Awesome Rubber Band Jewelry.  This book can be used with the Rainbow Loom, the Cra-Z-Loom, or the FunLoom. 

The book will allow your creative daughter to make colourful and super stylish bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other accessories in minutes.   It will guide her on how to use the loom in a step-by-step method in order to allow her to do thirteen easy project: basic bracelet with beads, fishtail bracelet, triple the fun bracelet, back and forth bracelet, zipper bracelet, starbust bracelet, flower charm, dangly earrings, hand and foot accessories as well as an hippie belt.   The book also begins with a section teaching the basics of using the loom, guiding her into making a basic bracelet with it.   Fabulous tips and tricks will allow her to grow confidence in making fun jewelry for her family and friends.  I personally like the flower charm project which can allow you to had some fun flowers in your hairdo.
