Ortho-Fiches sur la langue française (Cahier d’activité et Corrigé)

Ce cahier d’activités s’adresse à tous les élèves du secondaire qui cherchent à maîtriser les connaissances orthographiques inscrites au programme des cinq années du secondaire.   Le cahier indique spécifiquement les pages d’activités à faire selon le niveau du secondaire (S1 à S5 ce qui correspont approximativement à grades 8-12 en Ontario).   Malheureusement, le code qui se trouve au haut de la page n’est pas indiqué dans la table des matières.  

La cahier d’activités offrent plus de 74 fiches sur l’orthographe grammaticale, 28 fiches sur les confusions homonymiques, 41 fiches sur l’orthographe d’usage à l’élève.  Conséquemment, cet ouvrage permet de couvrir toutes les notions dont il/elle a besoin pour arriver à des productions écrites d’une grande qualité orthographique.   De plus, ORTHO-FICHES donne l’occasion à l’élève d’être un agent actif de sa propre formation et l’aide à développer son autonomie en lui permettant d’utiliser les fiches selon ses besoins et de corriger les exercices effectués.   Enfin, l’un des avantages de ce cahier est de fournir à l’élève un outil de qualité tout au long de son secondaire.  À tout moment, il aura la possibilité de réviser des connaissances acquises antérieurement ou d’apprendre de nouvelles notions orthographiques au programme des années suivantes.

Le cahier d’activité comporte trois chapitres:

• L’ortographe grammaticale avec des exercises sur le nom, l’adjectif, le sujet, le participe passé, le verbe, et la ponctuation.
• Les confusions homonymiques qui offre plusieurs exercices sur les homonymes.
• L’orthographe d’usage qui possède des exercises spécifiques sur les graphies de son, les mots commençant par une voyelle à l’oral, les redoublements de lettres, les adjectifs féminins en guë, l’emploi de la majuscule, le M devant des consonnes spécifiques, l’emploi du trait d’union, les abréviations et les symboles.

Tous les exercises trouvés dans ce cahier sont bien expliqués et encourage l’étudiant à trouver la règle de grammaire avant de compléter la leçon.   Dans un premier temps, l’élève observe des exemples et essaie de compléter la règle de grammaire associée à l’exercise.   Puis, l’élève doit effectuer des activités d’assimilation afin de saisir la règle de grammaire complètement dans l’écriture.   C’est une bonne façon de mettre en pratique les leçons de grammaire française apprises.

Un corrigé est aussi disponible pour la personne qui corrige les exercices faits dans le cahier d’activités.

This workbook allows the students in high school to master the French grammar during the five years of high school.  The workbook indicates at the top of the pages which high school year the exercises should be done (S1 to S5 which slightly corresponds to grades 8 to 12 in Ontario).   Unfortunately, the table of contents do not indicate which pages should be done at which level of high school.

The workbook offers over 74 files to review grammar, 28 files for homonyms, and 41 files on particularities on spelling.   Consequently, this book allow your student to cover all the notions needed to be able to write properly in French.   ORTHO-FICHES also gives the student the ability to take their own learning in their hands and become autonomous when it comes to complete the files and correct them.    Finally, one of the advantages of this workbook would be to offer a quality tool throughout the high school level.   At any time, the student has the possibility to revise the rules of grammar already learned and learned new notions at the same time.

The workbook contains three chapters:

• The grammar portion which includes exercises on the name, the adjective, the subject, the past participle, the verb and the punctuation.
• The homonyms portion which will offer exercises on a variety of French homonyms.
• The spelling portion which offers exercises on the sound pronounced, the words that would start with a voyel, the doubling of letters, the usage of the capital letter, the use of dash, the abbreviations and the symbols used in the French language.

All the exercises found in this workbook are well explained and will encourage the student to find the rule of grammar before completing the lesson.   In a first step, the student need to observe some examples and has to try to complete the rule of grammar linked with the exercise.  Afterward, the student will have to complete activities in order to comprehend the rule of grammar via writing.   I find this a great way to practice the lessons learned in French grammar.

A book containing the answers is also available for the person who will correct the exercises done by the student.

Cherchez-vous un curriculum qui aidera votre enfant qui est au secondaire de développer son vocabulaire?  Si oui, j’ai découvert un produit fabuleux lorsque je visitais une autre maman qui fait l’école-maison.   Celle-ci m’avait invité parce que j’avais exprimé mon désir de découvrir des produits francophones qui permettraient à mes enfants de continuer à apprendre les règles de grammaire française durant les années d’école secondaire.  J’étais à la période d’exploration parce que mon plus vieux entamera les années supérieures du primaire (7e et 8e) en septembre.   Imaginez mon plaisir quand elle m’a présenté Lexico qui couvre toutes les années du secondaire!   C’était parfait pour notre famille.

Guérin a bien voulu m’envoyer le cahier et le corrigé de Lexico pour que je puisse l’explorer et le présenter.   Lexico est un produit qui permet à l’étudiant de mieux comprendre les lectures faites durant l’année scolaire et d’améliorer le vocabulaire de présentations orales et/ou écrites.    Le cahier contient plus de 6500 questions sur le vocabulaire pour toutes les années du secondaire.  En tout, vous trouverez un total de plus de 165 activités.     Les exercices sont nombreux et permettront à l’étudiant de construire une banque de mots qui rendra ses textes plus vivants en bout de ligne. 

Voici la table des matières du cahier d’exercices:

Chapitre 1: La formation des mots – Ce chapitre présente des exercices qui permettront à l’étudiant d’identifier le radical, de jouer avec les préfixes/suffixes, de trouver la racine d’un mot, de même que la formation du verbe, de l’adjectif, du nom, de l’adverbe et les famille de mots.
Chapitre 2: La précision des mots – Dans ce chapitre, les exercices guideront l’étudiant à remplacer des termes communs avec des termes plus précis.

Chapitre 7: De quel mot s'agit-il? –Ce dernier chapitre consiste à trouver des mots basés sur chacune des lettres de l’alphabet.

L’encadré Connaissances au début de chaque leçon permet à l’élève de se familiariser avec les règles à apprendre avant de procéder à l’exercice.   Un certain nombre d’exercices sont offerts dans le cahier afin d’appronfondir le volet connaissance.   Plus tu avances dans le cahier plus tes connaissances de la langue française s’approfondissent.  Certains exercices demanderont de trouver une meilleure façon d’écrire (tel que trouver une verbe plus expressif) alors que d’autres familiaseront l’élève aux expressions françaises courantes.

Je suis vraiment impressionné avec le nombre d’exercices trouvés dans ce cahier et je suis certaine que mes enfants en sortiront gagnants quand ils feront ce cahier au cours des années secondaires.   Pour le simple plaisir d’améliorer mon français, j’ai moi même décider de passer à travers ce cahier.   Je dois avouer que j’apprends quelques trucs en parcourant les pages.

Si vous désirez que votre élève améliore son vocabulaire afin de mieux écrire des compositions ou des remises de travaux au secondaire, je conseille fortement de vous procurer le cahier de l’élève et le corrigé.  C’est un excellent produit pour faire pratiquer votre fils ou fille à améliorer son vocabulaire au secondaire.

Are you looking for a product that will help your child in high school to develop his/her French vocabulary?  If so, I have found something that is simply fabulous while I was visiting another homeschool mom.    She had invited me at her place when I expresses a desire to find French curriculum for my kids that would allow them to learn the French grammar while doing the high school level.  I was at a time of exploration because my oldest son was entering middle school this year.   Imagine my surprise and joy when she showed me a product to learn French vocabulary which cover all the high school level.   It was perfect for my family!

Guérin accepted to send me the workbook and the teacher’s book so I can explore it and present it to my readers.    Lexico is a product that will allow the student to better understand the readings dones during the school year and to deepen his/her knowledge of the French vocabulary whether orally or in writing.   The workbook contains more than 6500 questions on the French vocabulary covered throughout high school.  In all you will find over 165 activities to complete in the workbook.  There are numerous exercises which will allow your student to build a word bank that will transform his compositions by making them more interesting.   

Here’s the table of content of the workbook:

Chapter 1: Words formation– This chapter offers exercices that will allow your student to identify the radical, to play with prefixes and suffixes, to find the root of a word, as well as understand the formation of verbs, adjectives, name, adverbs, and word families. 
Chapter 2: Precision of the words– In this chapter, the exercises will guide your student in replacing common terms into a more precise way of saying it.  
Chapter 3: Common expressions and their meaning– This chapter let the student explore expressions common in French and find which word is associated to them.  
Chapter 4: Variations of words– This chapter explore the synonyms, homonyms, paronyms and antonyms.

Before jumping into exercises, the student will have to read a section where he/she will familiarize himself/herself with the rules to apply in the exercises offered.   Numerous exercises are offered in order to deepen the understanding of the French language – particularly the vocabulary.   The more you advance in the workbook, the more your understanding will get better.   Some exercises will ask you to find a new way to write something (for example to find a verb that is more alive) while others will allow the student to discover the French expressions used these days.     

I am really impressed with the quantities of exercises found in the workbook and I am convinced that my kids will come out winner by the time they complete the workbook.  Because I want to reconnect with my French and get better at it, I have decided that I would go through this book myself.   I have to admit that I am learning a thing or two while doing the pages…

If you desire that your student gets a stronger French vocabulary while writing, I strongly recommend that you purchase the workbook and the teacher’s book.  It is an excellent product that will allow your child to deepen his French vocabulary throughout high school.

Ortho-Fiches sur la langue française – 2e et 3e cycles du cours primaire

Je suis présentement dans une période de découverte avec les produits français de Guérin pour le primaire et le secondaire.   J’ai plusieurs produits que je vais présenter dans les semaines qui viennent afin d’encourager les enfants à se familiariser et comprendre les règles de grammaire française.   Un des produits que j’ai trouvé en visitant une autre maman qui fait l’école maison est le cahier d’activité et le corrigé Ortho-Fiches sur la langue française.  Je n’avais aucune idée qu’un tel produit existait pour aider les enfants à saisir les règles grammaticales.   Vous pouvez vous imaginer que j’étais au septième ciel quand je les ai vu.   Je savais tout de suite que ça ferait un bon produit pour le français dans notre école-maison.

Ortho-Fiches présente 105 fiches comprenant des exercices qui aideront l’élève à maîtriser les règles de grammaire de la langue française.  De plus, les exercices permettent de réviser les connaissances acquises antérieurement.   Le curriculum contient quatre chapitres essentiels qui permettra à l’élève de saisir les particularités de la langue française en se qui concerne la grammaire.

• Chapitre 1 L’orthographe grammaticale:   Ce chapitre va présenter les règles de grammaisre pour le déterminant, le nom, l’adjectif, l’attribut, le sujet, le verbe, le participe passé, la ponctuation et la phrase.
• Chapitre 2 Les homonymes: Ce chapitre présente plus de seize homonymes fréquents que les enfants de 3e à la 6e année doivent apprendre.
• Chapitre 3 L’orthographe d’usage:  Ce chapitre présente des règles grammaticales sur le trait d’union, l’élision, certaines graphies, le redoublement des certaines lettres ainsi que les particularités de certaines lettres.
• Chapitre 4 Le lexique: Dans ce chapitre, l’élève  couvrira les familles de mots, le synonyme, l’antonyme, l’homonyme, les préfixes et suffixes de même que le champ lexical et les ouvrages de références.

Ce que je trouve particulièrement intéressant dans ce cahier d’exercices c’est que ceux-ci sont séparés selon le niveau scolaire de l’élève.    Dans le coin droit de la fiche, vous verrez à quel niveau scolaire il est préférable de donner l’exercise.   Par exemple, pour le féminin des noms se terminant avec  –ET, –C, –X, et –AN, la fiche précise que la leçon doit se donner pour un enfant de 3ième année du primaire.   Toutefois, si votre enfant a des problèmes d’apprentissage, je trouve que le document est assez flexible pour vous permettre de décider si la leçon sera trop difficile ou non.    La mention ENR (enrichissement) apparaît sur certains exercises pour indiquer que les notions sont hors programmes.

Une autre chose qui est fantastique avec ce document est le fait que toutes les fiches sont présentées de la même façon.  Ces fiches possèdent une démarche en quatre étapes:  observer les exemples, déduire la règle, mettre en pratique les connaissances, et revision lors de la correction.    Avoir un tel processus afin de comprendre la grammaire française est une bonne idée parce que l’élève utilise différentes façons d’apprendre.   Je vois la différence que les produits utilisant plus d’un sens pour apprendre a fait pour mes enfants et je suis confidente que la démarche présenté dans Ortho-Fiches sera bien accueilli par mes enfants.

Je pense que le produit Ortho-Fiches est excellent pour pratiquer la compréhension des règles de grammaire en français.

I am presently in a discovery mode when it comes to the French Curricula I have received from Guérin for the upper elementary and secondary levels.    I got numerous products that I will write about in the weeks to come which will encourage the kids to familiarize and understand the rules in the French grammar.    One of the products I have found very interesting while I was visiting another homeschooling mom is the activity book and the answer book titled Ortho-Fiches.   I had no idea that such a product existed to help the kids to grab the grammatical rules and apply them while they speak and write.    Let me tell you that I was delighted when I saw them for the first time.   I knew right away that it would be a great curriculum to have for teaching French in our homeschool.

Ortho-Fiches presents 105 files with exercises that will help your child to learn the French grammar rules.   These exercises allow to revise the previously acquired lessons from lower levels in elementary school.      The curriculum contains four chapters that will allow the student to understand the rules of the French grammar in order to be able to apply them in the future.  

• Chapter 1 This chapter will highlight the grammar rules for the noun, adjective, the subject, the verb, the past participle, the punctuation, the sentence and more.
• Chapter 2 This chapter present more than sixteen homonyms that are often used with children in grades 3 to 6.
• Chapter 3  This chapter presents the grammar rules on how to double some letters, the particular rules for certain letters, the hyphen, and more.
• Chapter 4 In this chapter, the student will cover the word families, the synonym, the antonym, the homonym, the prefixes, the suffixes and more.

What I find particularly interesting in this exercise book is that all the exercises are separated depending of the grade your child is in.   In the right corner of the file, you will see which grade is strongly suggested for the exercise.    For example,   for the feminine form of nouns that finishes with  –ET, –C, –X, et –AN, the file indicates that the lesson should be given for a child in grade 3.   However, if your child has learning issues, I find that this curriculum is flexible enough to allow you to determine if the lesson is too difficult or not.  The letters ENR (for more advanced students)  will be indicate for some exercises when the lesson is considered above and beyond the learning necessary for the students from grades 3 to 6.  

Another thing that is totally fantastic is that all the files in the book are presented the same way.   These files possess a four steps learning approach:  observe the examples, deduct the rule, put in practice the rules, and revise after the correcting step.   I consider that this is a great way to learn the French grammar for any child because he/she uses different ways to learn a specific rule.    I see the difference that multi-sensory learning has done for my children and I am confident that these steps in Ortho-Fiches will be useful for my children. 

I think that Ortho-Fiches is excellent to practice the understanding of the French grammar rules.

Guérin Éditeur est spécialisé dans l’édition de manuels scolaires depuis plus de 42 ans.    Je me souviens être allé à plusieurs reprises dans leurs boutiques sur la rue St-Denis avec ma mère pour trouver des manuels scolaires quand j’étais petite.   On ne faisait pas l’école maison mais ma mère a pris l’habitude de me procurer le même livre que j’avais à l’école pour que je puisse pratiquer ma lecture et avancer mes travaux.

Naturellement, quand j’ai décidé de faire l’école maison, Guérin a été une resource pour couvrir le côté francophone de l’apprentissage de mes enfants.   Il est facile de naviguer sur le site de Guérin Éditeur parce que vous trouverez des onglets au haut indiquant les différentes sections – Maternelle et préscolaire, primaire, secondaire, collégial et universitaire, éducations aux adultes, livres anglais et ADG (agence de distribution Guérin).

Récemment, alors que je contemplais le matériel scolaire pour mon plus vieux qui va aller en 7ième année (Ontario), une autre maman qui fait l’école maison avec ses enfants m’a invité pour que puisse prendre connaissance du matériel qu’elle utilisait.   J’ai vraiment aimé ce que j’ai vu et j’ai approché Guérin Éditeur afin de pouvoir écrire sur les produits auxquels j’étais intéressé.    L’offre a été accepté et voici le premier des produits que j’ai reçu.

Les Clés du Verbe est un produit qui va permettre aux enfants de 4ième à 6ième années primaire de maîtriser la conjugaison en français.   Bien que nous avons couvert les verbes dans le passé, je savais qu’il y avait une lacune au niveau de l’apprentissage de cette partie de la grammaire française.   Je ne me sentais pas assez confiante en moi-même pour enseigner tout ce qu’il y a à apprendre sur les verbes.

Il y a huit chapitres dans la table des matières.

• Les verbes témoins – ce chapitre permettra à l’enfant de se familiariser avec les auxiliaires, les verbes du premier groupe, les verbes du deuxième group et les verbes du troisième groupe.
• Les mécanismes du verbe – dans ce chapitre l’enfant va apprendre à décortiquer le verbe en radical et terminaison, découvrira les différents groupes de verbes, les modes et les temps des verbes.
• Les personnes – ce chapiter va introduire la première, deuxième et troisième personne du verbe.
• Auxiliaires et verbes irréguliers – l’élève se familiarisera avec les verbes avoir, être, aller, faire, envoyer, haïr, devoir, pouvoir et voir.
• L’accord du verbe: dans ce chapitre l’élève pourra approfondir ces connaissances concernant l’accord selon la personne du sujet, quand le sujet est on ou qui, quand le sujet est un nom collectif sans complément, quand le sujet est suivi d’un complément du nom ou d’un mot en apposition ou d’une relative.
• L’accord du participe passé: ce chapitre aidera l’élève à différencier le é et er ainsi que le découvrir le participa passé employé sans auxiliaire et avec l’auxiliaire être.
• Les homophonies: ce chapitre a pour but d’aider l’enfant à éviter de commettre des erreurs fréquentes durant la conjugaison de verbes avec certains sons – e, i, u, é, on, ou, et è.
• Mini- Tests:   ce chapitre contient des mini-tests séparés selon les divers chapitres couverts dans le livre. 

Une journée après que nous avons reçu la boîte de Guérin, mon fils m’a demandé s’il pouvait faire du français.  Il a premièrement pointé un autre produit que je vais vous présenter dans les semaines qui viennent puis s’est ravisé en disant: “Je veux faire des verbes!”  Il savait qu’il doit améliorer son apprentissage des verbes.

Depuis que le livre est entré dans la maison, nous découvrons ensemble comment décortiquer le verbe en radical et terminaison.   Il y a eu quelques accrochages mais règle générale je dois avouer que même moi j’apprends des choses.   Bien que j’ai grandit au Québec je n’ai jamais appris à séparer mes verbes avec les deux parties qui les composent.  C’est un exercise fascinant et intéressant.   En commençant à la base et en ajoutant lentement de règles de grammaire, je crois que l’apprentissage des verbes se fera beaucoup mieux.  

Depuis que nous avons reçu ce livre, je réalise de plus en plus que c’est une bénédiction que j’ai découvert ce produit.   C’est un curriculum essentiel qui va me permettre d’aider mes enfants à comprendre la langue française.    Pour nous il est vraiment important que nos enfants possèdent l’abileté de converser et d’écrire dans notre langue maternelle parce que nous savons que ça pourra leur ouvrir des portes dans le future.   En prenant connaissance des exercices et la façon dont les leçons sont présentées, je me sent beaucoup plus en confiance sachant que le livre va m’aider à enseigner les pièges de la conjugaison française à mon enfant.  

Ce curriculum est disponible avec un livre de travaux pratiques pour 21.10$  et un livre contenant le corrigé pour 61.25$.  Même si vous – en tant que parent – a été élevé en français je recommende de se procurer le livre contenant le corrigé.

Guérin Publisher is a specialized publisher for school books for over 42 years.    I remember going numerous times to one of their stores on St-Denis with my mom to purchase school books when I was younger.   We were not doing homeschool back then but my mom wanted to make sure I could go the books when I was at home.   Back then we were not bringing the books home from school.  

Naturally, when I started homeschooling Guérin was one of the first places where I looked for French curriculum.   It is easy to navigate on the website of Guérin because you will have tabs at the top of the site which will guide you through the different sections – Kindergarten and preschool, primary, high school, higher degrees of education and so on.   

Recently, I was on a mission to find some French curriculum for my oldest who will enter grade 7 in September.   Another mom doing homeschool had opened her door and let me check out the products she was using – all from Guerin.  I feel in love with what I saw and decided to approach the publisher to see if I could review some of their products.    My offer was accepted and this is one of the items I have received from them.

Les Clés du Verbe is a curriculum that will allow the kids from grade 4 to 6 to master the dreadful French verbs.  Even if we have seen verbs in the past with my son, I knew that it wasn’t something he was mastering.  And to be honest, I wasn’t feeling very confident in my ability of teaching him the verbs.

There are eight chapters in the table of content. (Please note that for the purpose of the English review, I will translate the table of content as best I can!)

• Basic verbs:  this chapter will allow the child to familiarize himself with the auxiliary verbs, the first group verbs, the second group verbs, and the third group verbs.
• The mechanism of the verb:  In this chapter, the child will learn how to separate the verb in its root and suffix part as well as discover the different groups and tense of the verbs.
• The person:   this chapter, the student will be introduced to the first, second and third person of the verb.
• Auxiliary and irregular verbs: this chapter will allow the child to be comfortable with the french verbs avoir, être, aller, faire, envoyer, haïr, devoir, pouvoir and voir.
• Conjugate verbs: this chapter will allow the child to deepen his understanding of how to conjugate verbs in French according the various rules.  
• Past participle:  this chapter will help the student to determine how the past participle should be written when using the rules in the French grammar.

One day after we received the box from Guérin, my son asked if he could do some French.  At first he asked for another product that I will write about in the weeks to come but then he said: “I want to do some verbs!”   He knew that he needs to master this part of the French language.

Since we cracked open the book, we discover together how to separate the root from the suffix for the verbs presented in the exercises.    We hit some road blocks but generally speaking I have to admit that I am learning as well.   Even though I grew up in Québec I didn`t learn to split the verb in its two sections.   It is a fascinating exercises and I find it interesting.    By starting with the basic notions and slowly building on it with French grammar rules presented a little bit at a time, the learning process of French verbs can be mastered.  

Though we just received this book, I can see that it will be a fabulous item to have for my ids to learn the beautiful French language.   I find it essential for them to learn how to converse and write in my mother tongue because it will open possibilities for them in the future.   I am more confident in my capacity in guiding them in learning how to deal with verbs in French knowing that I have this book helping me to slowly feed their brain with a more complicated way of dealing with verbs.  

I strongly suggest that the parent has a strong base of French verbs before letting their child use this product.   My recommendation would be to use the product yourself before in order to be able to guide your child when you teach him/her.  

This curriculum is available in a book for exercises for 21.10$ and a book containing the corrections for 61.25$.  Even if you have been raised in French, I strongly recommend that you purchase the book containing the corrections.
