About the book

The nightmares have returned. Something, or someone, wants to drag Julia Davidson back into a dreadful conflict she assumed was a distant memory. Was this, like before, the echo of another person's dream? Is she responsible to rescue faces she doesn't recognize but can't forget? Do the murky images suggest she has a part to play in whatever ominous events lie ahead?

Things are finally looking up for Matthew Adams. As the top earner at MedCom Associates he has started to crawl out of the financial hole created during his "dark days." And now, out of the blue, a mysterious woman invites him to join a confidential research initiative. She says it will ease the mounting economic crisis. But at what cost to Matthew's fragile sanity, and his tortured soul?

Pastor Alex Ware faces a serious problem. The honeymoon period at Christ Community Church has ended. The finance committee says they can't afford another year of dwindling income and dismal growth. The board wants action, now! Aging parishioners would gladly allocate a portion of their estate to help. But only if Alex stops condemning the transition industry and starts affirming what the Youth Initiative calls "our heroic volunteers."

In Fatherless and Childless, Dr. James Dobson and Kurt Bruner depicted a time in which present-day trends come to sinister fruition. This eagerly awaited conclusion vividly imagines what happens when God's image on earth is exchanged for the horrors of a GODLESS world. - See more at:

My Thoughts

Godless is the third installment of a series written by Dr. James Dobson and Kurt Bruner. The series started with Fatherless which explored the trend of men neglecting the honor and responsibilities of paternity. The second book, Childless, explored the idea of what would happen when sex is severed from the life-giving joys of maternity. After reading the first two books of the series, I had to complete it by reading Godless. This book confronts the chilling implications of Dostoyevsky's claim that without God all things are permissible.

As I started reading Godless, I reacquainted myself with the characters that I have learned to love from the previous two books. Some characters were mentioned but Didn't play a major role in this installment - I am thinking of Julia's sister and nephew - and it made me wonder what happened to them since the last book. However, as I read I have discovered new characters that were worthy to discover like the elders parents of Kevin Tolbert or Ellie Baxter.

Once again the authors were able to keep me on the edge and grab my attention through the book. I enjoyed reading the conclusion of the series but at the same time it kept me wanting for more. With the events happening at the end of the book, I can't help but wonder if Kevin Tolbert will end up being chosen to become the next president of the country. He does have the charisma and possess numerous ideas to help the economy.

These books emphasis the importance of human life no matter if you are an elderly or someone will special needs. The series projects what will happen three decades in the future when choices by the population come to a point where the economy flips - rapidly aging population and too few young people. Not so long ago, it wasn't a surprise to see big families everywhere. My in-laws have respectively 12 and 11 siblings each. Nowadays, it a surmise to see family with 4 kids like my own. I personally know many other families with more children than ours. In a way in am a Bright Spot (to understand this expression, you will have to read the series or go to http://KurtBruner.com) and I am proud of being a mom of the four gifts that God has given me. I look forward what he has in store for each and every one of them.

If you are still looking for a series to read this summer and want it to be something that will also challenge you in your belief, I strongly suggest that you check out this series of novels written by Dr. James Dobson and Kurt Bruner.

About the book

The second installment in the riveting new trilogy from Dr. James Dobson and Kurt Bruner transports readers to a not-too-distant future when the young and healthy strain under the burden of a rapidly aging population.

Everyone is nervous about how Judge Victor Santiago will rule. The case involved the tragic demise of a loving mother and her disabled son. A common medical procedure has somehow created havoc across the legal and economic landscape. The president's popular Youth Initiative is losing momentum. Political and economic fortunes are at stake. That's why someone, somewhere, would rather put the judge in his grave than risk a wrong decision.

Tyler Cain, a once respected police detective turned sleazy private investigator, has been pulled into the middle of events way above his pay grade. He hopes the case will restore some measure of dignity. But does he have what it takes to find the potential assassin before time runs out?

He seeks help from Julia Davidson, a newly married journalist, who finds herself torn between the influence she craves and the husband she loves. She wants significance. But he wants a child. In Fatherless, Dr. James Dobson and Kurt Bruner depicted a time in which present-day trends come to sinister fruition. This eagerly awaited follow-up vividly imagines what happens when the abiding joys of parenthood are exchanged for the gradual deterioration of a CHILDLESS world.

My Thoughts

This book is the second installment of a new trilogy written two authors – one of them being a man I respect when it comes for teaching and parenting.   I have read the first book of the series – Fatherless – and it has disturbed me as I discovered the future of euthanasia through its pages.   I find life so important that I can’t believe that people would come to the point of strongly suggesting to loved ones who are sick to choose the easy way to die.  Nevertheless, I persevere reading the book and by the time I finished it, I was looking forward to read the second one – Childless

Well this book picks up about a year after the first book of the series.    This time Julia Davidson is married to Troy Simmons and she is enjoying married life.   Slowly through the book she is pondering on the parenting and how it would be nice to have a child with Troy.    In her head, she would rather go through the “normal” way of having a child which is to go through a fertility clinic in order to choose the child.   But after spending some time with her friend Angie and her family, she slowly realized that making love to have a child is not so bad.   Though the desire of having a child will be crushed through an unexpected turn of event.  In the end, they will have the opportunity to parent a child but I won’t give you the details about it.  I sure don’t want to crush the surprise…

The book is not all about the life of Julia and Troy.  No it’s much more than that.  The storyline also cover the court case between NEXT and the tragic death of a mother and her disabled son.    Mystery, treats, and other characters are making this book and easy read.   Somehow, I couldn’t put the book down.  I wanted to discover what will happen to all the characters in this book.    Reading this book was much easier than the previous one though there are still some disturbing issues covered in it.

I highly recommend the series to anyone who wants to discover what could happen if the trends continue the way they are going right now – not only in America but everywhere else as well.    I think the series is definitively an eye opener for everyone.

The books could make a fabulous Christmas gift for someone who enjoys reading.   Please note that the last titled of the series – Godless – will be publisher in Spring 2014.  I personally look forward to reconnect with the characters I have grown to love and discover new ones in the next book.

Childless is available at your favourite bookstore, even on amazon.ca and amazon.com.
