Epson Home Cinema 4000 4ke Video Projector

Recently I had the opportunity to select the Epson Home Cinema 4000 4ke Video Projector from Amazon Vine Voices.   Seeing that as part of our homeschool coop the kids do presentations sometimes I thought it would be great to have in order to  project their presentation on the wall…  that was before we realized the size of this particular projector.  After selecting the product to review, my husband and I discovered the size  it would be…. and he was laughing while saying “There is no way you will be carrying this around!”  You see this particular projector is big and weight over 11 kg.   So yes it was indeed out of question for carrying to coop.

So we were debating what to do…. maybe I should just forget about it.   But hubby decided to go check in the basement with one of our boys to determine if it was feasible to remove the television and install this “beast” on the ceiling.  They came back upstairs with a decision – we will install it at the ceiling.

So when I got the Epson Home Cinema 4000 4ke we waited about a week before testing it.   Not at the ceiling mind you – that will be done sometimes hopefully in December.  But we have a foldup table and installed it on the back of our sofa.

WOW!  The colors are absolutely stunning.  the resolution on this projector is absolutely amazing.

In our living we currently have a 60” television on the wall.   We were able to bring the size to 120” on the perpendicular wall.   If we would bring the projector closer to the back wall of the room, we would be able to have a bigger area covered on the wall.  Nevertheless, looking at a movie on a size of 120” is fabulous.  Note that our walls have a light yellow color so it isn’t necessary to have a white wall in order to see the colors properly.   I mean Lighting McQueen was at his best on the wall of our living room!  And our living room is fairly small but the capacity of coverage from the projector made it feel like a small private theater.

This particular project also comes with a smart motorized lens which allows you to adjust the lense in order to have the biggest, straightest and most amazing view for your movie. 

Needless to say that we are very impressed with the projector.  However, I need to highlight a few things about it if you will consider to get one.

1) It does not come with speakers so you will need a different system to handle your sound.

2) If you desire to install it at the ceiling, you will have to purchase a ceiling bracket.

3) Keep in mind that you may have to spend some money to hire an electrician to set up an electrical outlet for the device at the ceiling.  Never do this kind of job yourself…

Note that the projector comes with a remote control but you can also use the buttons found on the device as well.

So we are very pleased with the quality of this Epson Home Cinema 4000 projector.   Now we only have to find the time to install it at the ceiling after we have purchase a ceiling bracket and got an electrical outlet installed.   We have a few expenses to do for installing it but when it will be done I think it will be amazing in our basement area.

Beoplay A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker

I recently received a B&O Beoplay A1 Portable Speaker to review from Amazon Vine Voices. 

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING SOUND!

This is the one item that my husband immediately tried when we received it for review. Connecting it to his iPhone was easy and very simple. And once it was connected, my husband tried numerous songs from his collection to see how the speaker would handle it.

It will take 2.5 hours to charge this speaker but you will obtain 24 hours of play time which is truly amazing to be honest. Most portable speaker would last maybe 10 hours but this one last much longer.

The quality of the sound from this small speaker is fabulous. I was truly impressed. Even our 16 years old son was amazed by it. Now, it looks like I have lost the privilege of using this speaker because my husband has taken it for him office area at home. Mmmmm!

Not this speaker will not play stereo unless you have another B&O Beoplay A1 connected to it. We know because we had a particular song who would test the right and left speaker before starting and there was no difference when we listened to it. But at the price of the speaker I wonder how many people would purchase two of them....  Another feature this specific speaker possess is the ability to talk to Siri without having to touch the Apple device.  

Needless to say it is a pricey item but the quality of the sound coming out of this portable speaker is great. You can carry it around with you - even attaching it to a backpack while walking in the forest.

Sony BDPS1700 Wired Streaming Blu-Ray Disc Player (2016 Model)

Recently I have received a new Blu-Ray Sony Disc Player from Amazon Canada Vine Voices.   This dvd player is smaller than the one we had at home.  The dvd player is also quite light compare to the one we had. 

In the back of the player you will see the following inputs/outputs: 1 HDMI, 1 Coaxial, and 1 Ethernet.   The player also allow you to watch regular DVD as well as Blu-Ray DVD. 

This specific device will allow you to streams from over 300 apps and entertainments services like Netflix, Crackle, huluplus, YouTube, and more via an easy access through the customizable user-friendly interface.   You will also possess the capability to stream and enjoy Play Station Now 3 games instantly on your television.   Finally, the player possess an USB slot on the front which will permit your family to enjoy music or watch photos and videos.

From what we have experience with this player, we find that the loading time was a bit faster than the previous DVD we had.    

We are not gamers like most people might be. So for us the PlayStation Now was not a major bonus.   As for the entertainment services and apps available through the DVD, again it is not something we will be using a lot since our television is directly plugged to the internet via the personal desktop my husband has setup for us.   We access Netflix directly from our desktop instead of going through the DVD player or the television (since many television offers this as well).     We are also very wise with our finances and when you need to pay extra to access other services or apps and even games, we are not the kind of people who would do it.   We are quite satisfied with Netflix Canada at this point in time since we are not binging on television shows much. 

What is neat through is that there is a button on the remote control that will allow you to jump to Netflix quickly without going through the interface of the DVD player.  

You will need an HDMI cable to be able to use it.  Also you will require a Wired Ethernet Cable to allow you to stream the apps/services and PlayStation Now.

Sennheiser HD 4.30i White Around Ear Headphones

I recently received a new headphone to test out from Amazon Vine Voices.   This headphone is made by Sennheiser and it is specifically made for iPod, iPhone, and iPad.  

This lightweight headphone feature an around the ear design with extreme padding which will bring exceptional comfort while wearing it.  

The padded  headband is comfortable enough that it will sit on the top of your head without bugging you.   Also, the ear sections are also padded which heighten the comfort while wearing the headset.  However, I have compared the size of the ear sections to another headset I own at home and they are a bit smaller than the ones I have.   The main reason why I have decided to compare them is because while I tried out the Sennheiser HD 4.3-i white around the ear headphones, one side was somewhat annoying because it kept pressing on my earing.  I guess my ears are not asymmetric and one is slightly bigger than the other – well the lobe part anyway.   Consequently, when were these headphones one side was pressing on my lobe where my earring is and the back of the earring was hurting me.   However, if you take your time to perfectly place the ear inside the headphones then it isn’t an issue.

The cable is detachable and possess an inline 3-button remote control and microphone allowing the person to call and control their music for apple iOS devices.  However, I was curious to see if the headphone would work with my regular computer (PC) and turns out that it does indeed work.   So I am a bit at lost to the reasons why the product is specifically highlighted to be especially made for iPod, iPhone and iPad when in truth is works perfectly well for a PC computer as well. 

Also the first time I inserted the cable into the headset and started listening to my iPad, I thought it was odd that the sound would only come out in one ear.  Turns out that after inserting the cable in the headphone, you need to twist it in order to “anchor” it.  Then and only then will the sound come out in both ears.  I have learned my lesson.

Now concerning the sound of this headphone I must admit that I am extremely pleased with it.  When listening to music, the sound is exceptionally great since the bass will come out rich and dynamic at the same time.   

Finally, let me highlight the fact that the headband can be folded in three so that it is easier to store it when you do not use it.  Also the headset comes with a nice black storage bag which can be put in a purse or a backpack while travelling.  

The Sennheiser HD 4.30i White Around the Ear Headphones would made a great gift for a youth in your life this Christmas season.

Jaybird Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Headset

The Jaybird Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Headset has fabulous sound coming out of the buds. The whole headset is somewhat light apart from the side where the charging clip connects to the headset. I personally used the headset to watch an episode of Bones on Netflix in the afternoon while using my iPad mini. It was easy to use and the sound quality coming out of the buds was amazing.

However, I found that the side of my headset where the charging clip is located would be a bit heavier. Mind you I had not fit the headset behind the head using the cord management clips or the cord shirt clip.

On my first try, I decided to use the silicone buds with the fins. But my ear size would not allow the fins to be comfortable for me. So I remove the fins but the silicone buds would slip out of my ears. I have small ear holes you see. So I decided to switch to the comply foam ear buds and it was a success. I barely felt the buds in my ears when I was using the headset.

You will obtain 8 hours of playtime but make sure you recharge the clip before going out for the day. The controls on the side of the headset will allow you to answer the phone, play the music, as well as start/stop the headset.

The box contains the headset, the charging clip, the connector to charge, ear fins of multiple sizes, ear buds in silicone in small/medium/large, ear buds in comply foam in small/medium/large.

I was a bit disappointed with the user manual included in the box. Mostly it was images on how to set it up with almost no words whatsoever. However, the user guide is available on the website of Jaybird as well as videos explaining how to use the headset and setting it to your own size of head. This headset is compatible with any Bluetooth device including the iPhone (3, 3S, 4, 4S, 5, 5C, 6, 6Plus), Apple Watch, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad mini, the new iPod nano, Android, Windows, Blackberry, Android Wear Smartwatches, PC, MAC, and gaming devices. The MySound app will require iOS9+, Android 4.4+.

If you desire to get a headset that is portable and easy to use this headset would be great for you. My only question would be with the new announcement of the wireless Apple Earbuds I wonder if this will affect the current market of wireless headsets.
