Created at Innovative Kids

About the puzzle

With princesses, fairies, mermaids, and more, this enchanted forest floor puzzle is a dream come true for little girls. As they put it together, kids will discover something new in every inch of this magical world.

My Thoughts

My daughter likes to do girly puzzle but unfortunately for her, there isn’t many of these in our home because she has three older brothers.   She likes to pick up a 24 pieces puzzles whether is has My Little Pony or X-Men on it and do it on the floor in the living room.    But when I saw this particular puzzle in a catalogue I knew she would be delighted to have it because she loves pink and adores princesses.

The puzzle once complete measures 2 feet by 3 feet.   it is made of 98% of recycled materials and uses eco-friendly ink.   Which means it is not only good for the child but also for the environment.

The pieces are big to help little hands to manipulate them.   And they are quite sturdy too.   I am very impressed on the quality of the puzzle.   The colors are vibrant, the pieces sturdy and easy to manipulate, and the complete image is fabulous.   I was curious to see how well the pieces would stay together on our carpeted floor and let me tell you the result is impressive.   This puzzle is perfect for any kind of floors – whether you have carpet or not.

So if you know a little girl who loves princesses and likes to do puzzles, I would strongly recommend the Princess Fairyland Giant Floor Puzzle for her.   She will be challenge to put together a bigger puzzle without having to deal with tiny pieces.   It is a great transition toward the puzzles with more pieces.

The Green Start Giant Floor Puzzles are also available with the following themes: dinosaursnumber hunt, on the farm, my doll house, puppy palooza, and under the sea.   Some will have 35 pieces and others 60 pieces.

The Princess Fairyland Giant Floor Puzzle is available at your favourite toy store, even on amazon.ca.

Our Thoughts

I was curious about this game and watched my 2nd son play with it recently.    The game is packed with logic puzzles that will make you think to be able to bring the key to the lock.   You have to resolve the puzzle to be able to advance on the map.IMG_6496

Based on a medieval theme this game will help your child to develop his thinking skills as he/she has to resolve them to advance.    The ones that Dominic is doing right now are easy according to him.   When I asked Alexandre if he was at the Knight’s Refuge level IMG_6494he said: “Are you kidding?  I’m at the Wolf’s Den and it is getting harder…”  *grin*    As I write this, Dominic just informed me that he has reached the Wolf’s Den already!

There are six places you have to travel to before you reach the castle.    They are: Sheep’s Stables, Wolf’s Den, Lamb’s Hideaway, Lion’s Woods, Knight’s Refuge and King’s Castle.   Through each level, the complexity of the puzzles gets harder and will challenge the person who is playing.    Each of my older sons have their own game going on right now and Dominic seems to enjoy it quite a lot.   After each resolved puzzle, a scripture appear on the screen and a voice is reading it.   I find it interesting that the voice is there because my 2nd son would have trouble to read the somewhat italic writing.     Also included in this software are tutorials to help you play the game.  If you are stuck somewhere, simply watch the tutorial again so you can resolve the puzzle.

My son Alexandre, age 9 1/2,  is the one who used the game the most.    Here’s his thoughts on it:

“ The puzzles are very cool to test your brain.   I like it because there are some cool verses from the Bible.   I don’t really like that the view solution is there because people could just check to do it.   I find that it is showing you how to cheat instead of thinking.”

My son Dominic, age 7, has just started playing with Keys of the Kingdom.   Here’s are his thoughts:

“Cool!  It is fun and awesome.”

Both enjoys playing with Keys of the Kingdom and find the puzzles being more challenging.  I am starting to think that I should tease my own brain with this fun game…

Keys of the Kingdom is available directly from LBGames for the price of 19.98$US.

My Thoughts 550244CB5056900B10E48FA87D3D0BA5

I always loved puzzles.   From a young age I was doing some and learned to be patient while trying to put the pieces together.  With time, the number of pieces of my puzzles became larger and I even did some 3D puzzles.   But since I have children, I don’t have much time to do puzzles anymore.   Maybe it is also because having a puzzle out takes some space and having the dining table busy with puzzle pieces is not an option…   But I found myself missing the time I spent in the past doing puzzles.   So when I had the opportunity to take a look at a new way of doing puzzles I jumped on the opportunity.

Looking for a new way to spend time with your kids?   Have you thought about doing a puzzle together?   I am asking because there is a new type of puzzle on the market; Ji Ga Zo.    Ji Ga Zo is different in the sense that not only it allows you to take your own pictures to bring to life in a puzzle but it is versatile.   Take any pictures from your PC and upload it on the software that comes with the puzzle.   Within seconds, the program will determine which pieces should go where and suggest a special map for you.

The first picture I decided to upload was a recent picture that we got taken for our daughter for her passport renewal.   I had scanned the picture before sending it for the renewal.   Because of it’s white background, I thought this would be a great first picture to work with the puzzle.

Within seconds, the software has a map offered to me.   The map tells you where to set the puzzle pieces.   The map works with letters and numbers for example, the ladybug piece has to be put at the junction of L and 6.  All you have to do is place the piece the way it is shown and then flip it so that the sequoia color is facing up.

The second step for us was to separate all the pieces of the puzzle from their cardboard frames.    As you can see there are four colors – pink, blue, yellow and green.   Each piece has a specific image on it.    Find the image on your map to determine where the piece go.

My son Alexandre helped me to begin the puzzle.    He enjoyed doing this with me a lot.   He finds that it is a good activity to help you pass some time.   Alexandre’s love language is to spend time with us.   And doing a puzzle together was a wonderful way to fill his love tank like we say.

2011_02_17_10_25_44_0002 2011_02_17_10_25_44_0003

After spending some time at putting the pieces together, we could see the image taking form on the grid.

Finally, this afternoon, my son went in the basement and decided to continue working on it.    The first thing I knew is that he brought me the puzzle upstair when it was completed.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect with Ji Ga Zo.   I am quite impressed with the result.    I am planning to experiment more with this puzzle and upload more pictures of our family.

This type of puzzle is definitively out of the ordinary and quite entertaining.  There isn’t too many pieces to discourage us and it will bring fun time with your kids if you decide to remove the icon showing what it would look like.   Make it fun and let them discover the image without knowing what picture has been used as a model.    Just the fact that the kids have to search where a piece go will help them to develop the skill of observation.   I find that the price attached to it is also quite reasonable.
