About the DVD

Explore Yellowstone: America's first National Park!

See bison, elk, wolves, big horn sheep, coyotes, and grizzly bears in their natural habitat!

Watch Smoke Jumpers fight fires and see Helicopter Rescue training!

Discover the source of the "Old Faithful" geyser! Learn about nature and ecology from Yellowstone rangers!

 Our Thoughts

Travel to the Yellowstone National Park with this DVD from Little Mammoth Media.   Yellowstone National Park is definitively a destination that I want to bring my kids to.   When they saw the geysers splashing water around, they all thought it was extremely cool.   This isn’t our first DVD of Yellowstone National Park as we also have a creation science one based on this park.   But the information found in this DVD was different and presented the park as  a place to observe bison, elk, wolves, big horn sheep, coyotes as well as grizzly bears.    We learned more about the source behind the “Old Faithful” geyser, spend some time with a couple of rangers to learn more about the nature around the park as well as saw a training of Helicopter Rescue and how the firefighters would work when a disaster happens at the park.

Seeing how the rangers, firefighters and volunteers work at the Yellowstone National Park is a great educational tool for kids who wants to learn more about different kind of work.  Somehow, I see my 2nd son working in the field of nature and ecology as he is the child who is very kind to animals and loves to learn more about them.  I remember seeing him feeding the numerous deers at Marineland in Niagara Falls and making sure that each deer had a little bit of food.

The Big Park was also instructive on the history part as we learned how the park started up and saw plenty of old pictures to show how people were dressed and how they travelled to the park.    This DVD is a great addition for your personal library as the kids can learn something every time they watch it.

The Big Park is available for purchase directly from Little Mammoth Media either in DVD for the price of 14.95$ or immediate download for the price of 4.99$.

The Big Rescue

Big Rescue_DVD WrapThe Big Rescue
Created by Little Mammoth Media

About the DVD

Watch the US Coast Guard in action!

See actual footage of the men and women of the US Coast Guard as they perform rescues at sea, on land, and in the air!

Voyage out to sea on a Coast Guard Cutter; meet a USCG search and rescue dog; and watch USCG Rescue Swimmer training!

Fly through the air with a crew of a Coast Guard rescue helicopter, and soar over the north Atlantic with the International Ice Patrol as they hunt for huge icebergs!

Our Thoughts

This interesting DVD will bring you every detailed information you need to understand how the US Coast Guard is trained and work on a daily basis.   Thanks to the camera of Little Mammoth Media, you discover what kind of training is required to become a US Coast guard, how a rescue dog will indicate where the drug is hidden on a boat, learn how rescuing people on body of waters happen, and discover the International Ice Patrol.

I think the part where I learned the most in this DVD was when we met the International Ice Patrol which I didn’t existed.  This special patrol hunt icebergs in the Atlantic ocean with the help of a plane.     It was interesting to see how they prepare for their work and how they perform it.    And seeing them releasing a wreath in the ocean to remember the people who died during the tragedy of the Titanic was touching especially since this week was the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the so-called “unsinkable” ship.  MY kids enjoyed watching this DVD as they now know how they could get rescued if we are stranded on a body of water.

Seeing videos like the ones produced by Little Mammoth Media is educative as we realize all the training and preparation behind numerous jobs that we would not think on a day-to-day basis.    Letting your kids watching such videos could also stir their interest in a potential future employment for them.    The Big Rescue DVD is such a video as we learn quite a bit on the different jobs that the US Coast Guard can offer for future young men and women.   The video finished with live rescue footage which gives us a better perspective on how it happens in real life.

If you have a child interested in what the US Coast Guard do, this DVD will answer all his/her questions about it.

The Big Rescue is available for purchase directly from Little Mammoth Media either in DVD for the price of 14.95$ or immediate download for the price of 4.99$.

The Big Aircraft Carrier

Big Aircraft Carrier_REVThe Big Aircraft Carrier
Produced by Little Mammoth Media

About the DVD

See the USS Nimitz in Action!

Watch supersonic fighter jets take off and land! Follow Navy pilots on a mission!

Discover how a carrier works. Visit the control tower, bridge, kitchens, hangar deck and more!

Experience what it's like to live on board a floating city of almost 6000 people!

Our Thoughts

The least I can say is that we were all impressed by the amount of work involved in an aircraft carrier.    Honestly I never really stop and thought about how life would be on an aircraft carrier.   Each individual on board has an important job to do to make sure that the planes are ready to fly.

This DVD introduced us to the life aboard an aircraft carrier and all the details that need to be in place for such an adventure.    Whether you are a pilot or a simple technician the jobs aboard the ship are critical to maintain, direct, fly the planes as well as simply taking care of the people living there for an extended period of time.

We thought it was impressive to see the planes folding their wings so that they don’t take as much space.   And the planning to make sure that there is enough food on board is impressive.   We learned that more than 6000 people lived on board and that you can find anything and everything on the aircraft carrier from a dentist to their own television set.

Taking a tour of this ship was very interesting – even though it was through the lens of a camera.   It helps us to realize how important each job is and the sacrifice that some people go through to perform their jobs (like leaving their family for a long period of time).

If you have a child interested in the life in the military and want to know how an aircraft carrier functions, this DVD will definitively open up a whole world for him/her.

The Big Aircraft Carrier DVD is available for purchase directly from Little Mammoth Media for the price of 14.95$ for the DVD or 4.99$ for the immediate download version.

The Big Zoo

Big ZOO_REVThe Big Zoo
Created by Little Mammoth Media

About the DVD

Visit a BIG Zoo!

See animals behind-the-scenes in their habitats and watch zookeepers care for them.

Discover why Zebras have stripes & why flamingoes are pink! Learn about the food chain and endangered species.

Experience feeding day at the Reptile House, a visit to the Zoo Hospital and the nation's #1 interactive Children's Zoo!

Our Thoughts

This DVD will transport you to a day at the Baltimore zoo.   Thanks to the camera and the people behind the creation of this fun DVD, you will have the opportunity to spend time with zoo keepers, discover the preparation of the zoo before the arrivals of the visitors, how a animal doctor works at the zoo and much more.   You will have the opportunity to discover animals and learn about the food that they eat.

We love going at the zoo.   But sometimes we are disappointed because some animals don’t come out when it’s too hot.    We experienced that last year while visiting the Toronto zoo.    Though we were fortunate to have a 2 year membership which meant we can go in and out anytime we want, some visitors were greatly disappointed.    This DVD will allow you to encounter animals that could potentially hide during hot temperature or only sleeps when you are visiting the zoo.

I find the Little Mammoth DVDs very informative as they give a tour of everything including what is behind the scenes.    How often can you visit an animal doctor operating room or get to see the zoo keepers in action while cleaning or feeding the animals.   Not often right?   This video will offer you a greater perspective of what work is necessary to maintain a zoo.

The Big Zoo is available for purchase directly from Little Mammoth Media either in DVD for the price of 14.95$ or immediate download for the price of 4.99$.

Our Thoughts

If you love Christmas, you will love this DVD from Little Mammoth Media.

This video will show you how the selection of the famous tree in Rockefeller Center is done and how it can get transported to New York City.   It is so impressive that you won’t believe your eyes…   First the search start many months before December as they have to plan the move of such a giant tree.   The planning and organization around this 75 years of tradition is enormous.

The search for the tree is not done from the ground but from high above in the air.  Once a tree is found, you have to ask permission of taking it – especially if it is located on someone’s lawn.    Then you have to plan for the cutting and transportation of the tree.  In this particular video, the tree is as tall as seven school buses.   Unbelievable.  When you see the height of this gigantic tree, I am not surprised that the family agreed to give it.

I always thought that the transportation is always done by road.  Not so.    Apparently they use the biggest airplane ever existing to bring the truck and its cargo back to New York City.  The plane itself is something to see.  Once the tree is set in place, the illumination of it is almost magical.

The video also present a man who love to decorate his trees (yes with an s because he has more than one…).   His trees are fabulous but between you and me I think my husband would have a heart attack if I would put so much decorations in our home.   *grin*

If you love Christmas and always wondered on the huge tree is brought to Rockefeller Center, you definitively need to check out The Big Christmas Tree DVD.

You can buy the DVD anywhere for about 14.95$ or download it immediately from Little Mammoth Media for the price of 4.99$ by clicking on the download video now button.

From Little Mammoth Media

About the DVD

Learn how a train trip is planned, and ride in the cab with the engineer! See the giant control center and the maintenance shop.

Discover the history of the trans-Canadian Railway, and see the incredible sites as you travel from Toronto to Vancouver!

Our Thoughts

ALL ABOARD!

I’ve always dreamed to take a train trip.   One evening while we were camping, the two oldest were fishing with dad and the two youngest and I sat down and started watching The Big Train Trip.

The voyage starts in Toronto, ON (about 4 hours from where we live) and goes up to Vancouver, BC.   Five provinces are covered with this trip and you will learn quite a bit about the various jobs and things to do on a train like this one.

It was interesting to see the landscape changing through the trip.   We saw the cook in his kitchen, how the train is taken care of, the work of the engineer, and so much more.

Jérémy, age 5, asked me if I ever took a trip like this.  I told him no and that I don’t think I would be able to since Daddy says he doesn’t feel good on that kind of transportation.   To this he looks at me and says:

I want to take a train trip with you mommy!

Which is repeated by my 3 years old daughter.   Snuggle time between the three of us!

Maybe one day I will take a trip like this.  It would be fun and quite different that what I am used to.  Maybe I should include this in my what I want to do in my lifetime list…

If you have a child interested in trains (or a spouse for that matter), I would suggest that you get the Big Train Trip and let them watch it.   The 50 minutes are packed with a fun adventure and learning possibilities.   Discover the Canadian West and everything surrounding a train trip with The Big Train Trip DVD!

You can buy the DVD anywhere for about 14.95$ or download it immediately from Little Mammoth Media for the price of 4.99$ by clicking on the download video now button.

The BIG Space Shuttle

Big Space Shuttle_REVThe BIG Space Shuttle
Created by Little Mammoth Media

About the DVD

Fly into Space!

Blast Off with the astronauts of the Space Shuttle on a real mission! Experience what it's like to work and live in outer space!

Learn all about the space program. Visit the launch pad, the rockets, astronaut training, and Mission Control!

Discover what scientists are learning about our universe and see the world's largest radio telescope!

Recommended for Kids ages 3 to 10 (and their parents) - Running time:  50 minutes

Our Thoughts

We are the type of family who loves to discover how things are made.   Little Mammoth Media produces the kind of show where you learn what is all behind something like a zoo, an aquarium and more.

Today as part of our homeschool, we sat down in front of the television and watched “The BIG Space Shuttle”.   We discover everything that is involved in preparing and flying the space shuttle from the construction to the training and much more.

It was interesting to watch this as the space shuttle program was close in August of this year.  The video starts with a commemorative mention of the crew that died during a mission on Columbia.   The space shuttle that you follow throughout the video is Columbia so it was a nice gesture to have included a little note about what happened to the shuttle in 2003.

While we watched the video, we learned quite a bit about the preparations around a mission, the training the astronauts are going through, the assembly of the space shuttle for a mission as well as life on board of the shuttle around Earth.    It was fun to see them practice zero gravity in the gigantic pool as well as in the special plane designed for this.  You could see that the astronauts were have a blast…

We also learned more about the world’s largest radio telescope and the various locations where astronauts are trained.   The Space Camp has sparked the interest of my oldest son I think.   Maybe one day he will be able to attend it…  We also saw rockets which didn’t really flew as well as the first man on the moon.     Via the DVD we were able to visit up close and personal with the Mission Control, the launch pad, the shuttle itself as well as the astronaut.

This DVD was very informative and education.   I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a child who loves to discover how things are made.    This is definitively a wonderful DVD to have for your own personal library.

You can buy the DVD anywhere for about 14.95$ or download it immediately from Little Mammoth Media for the price of 4.99$ by clicking on the download video now button.
