My Thoughts

As we all know the bigger figures of Star Wars are not safe for little ones.    Well Hasbro has come up with a version of the figure that would fit in little hands ages 3 to 6 years of age.    Now the little siblings can play with their big brothers (and sisters) who have Star Wars figures in the house.    These little figures are adorable.   We received the Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Cody this year.  Last year, my daughter received the Ashoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker.

Their arms and body will move but the legs won’t bent.   Still these are the cutest little figures I ever seen.    They are definitively perfect for little ones who enjoy Star Wars as much as their older siblings are.    Our household is currently on the edge as we recently purchased the latest Star Wars Clones Wars DVD series (season 3).    We don’t have cable in our house so when our beloved series comes out in DVD, we purchase it.  This series has been a favorite for all my kids – even my little girl who will turn 4 this year.   She adores Ashoka Tano and pretend to be her every time the episode finishes.   She is truly adorable when doing so.

My only disappointment with these figures is that it seems their arms are easy to disconnect from their body.   Ashoka has lost one arm and I can find it anywhere in the house.   Now mind you her arms are smaller than the one on Obi-Wan and Cody.   But it is disappointing for her to have only one arm… LOL

These figures comes in pack of twos.   Other package available are Darth Vader + Stormtrooper, R2D2 + C3P0, Yoda + Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca + Han Solo.   You can find these at your favorite toy store.

My Thoughts

When I received the box from DK Canada with books to review, the kids knew immediately that great books were in it.   So imagine their joy when they saw The Incredible pop-up Body Book.   This is the book that they grabbed as soon as it was out of the box and opened it right on the spot in my own bedroom floor!

This book is in two section – the book part of it and the pop-up section.   The book part contains information about the human body and will show everything concerning it.  Cell, heart function, breathing, digestive system, reproduction, brain, eyes, bones and much more are explained in clear terms and bright images.    Colorful illustrations as well as pictures from microscopes, scans and other exams done while at the doctor as shown throughout the book.

The pop-up section has information on both sides.   One side will give detailed information about the various systems – respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, muscular and skeletal.    Then once you open this section completely the coolest thing happens, you see a human body with all it’s systems coming out of the pages - literally.   The head, the thoracic cage as well as the intestine can be opened and explored by the kids.

I applause the creativity of the creators behind this book because they have thought of using many areas to explain the human body.   Many publishers wouldn’t have though of putting information behind the pop-up section but it is the case for this book.    And having a human body popping-up the way this one is doing is marvelous when teaching anatomy as part of our homeschool. 

I would highly recommend this book for everyone as the kids can touch and feel as well as see where everything goes in our bodies.    It is perfect to illustrate the human body in its fullness!

My Thoughts

The Star Wars series is definitively a great place to tap in creating toys for kids.  This specific figure that we receive is part of a huge selection available at any toy store.  

I remember the days when the Star Wars movies came out back in the late 70s.    People would rush to get the figures in stores.   I had a couple and that was enough for me.  But my in-laws somehow were able to get their hands on a multitude of Star Wars figures, vehicles and so on at a ridiculous price.   Each and everyone of them were single wrapped for my husband and his older brother.    That Christmas was more than likely nuts…   Apparently the boys were tired of unwrapping gifts at one point.  LOL  

Well with the Clone Wars series raging on television and on DVD, this generation of kids will have plenty of choice of characters to play with.    Each figure comes with a galactic battle game card which is needed to play the Galactic Battle Game.  

The idea sounds interesting but it is a bit disappointing that you have to purchase each character separately to get more cards.    It would be nice to get a starter pack so that you can play without waiting a long time to get other cards.

Needless to say, my kids will be pleased just to have the figure to play with.  It will join the pack that they have including a few from the days their dad was a boy himself.    Old Chewbacca and his older friends are looking forward to get back in the battle.    Another difference between the older figures and the new ones are that the body of the new ones moves – legs, arms and hips are able to bend which is a big enhancement compare to the older figures.
