My Thoughts

When I received the box from DK Canada with books to review, the kids knew immediately that great books were in it.   So imagine their joy when they saw The Incredible pop-up Body Book.   This is the book that they grabbed as soon as it was out of the box and opened it right on the spot in my own bedroom floor!

This book is in two section – the book part of it and the pop-up section.   The book part contains information about the human body and will show everything concerning it.  Cell, heart function, breathing, digestive system, reproduction, brain, eyes, bones and much more are explained in clear terms and bright images.    Colorful illustrations as well as pictures from microscopes, scans and other exams done while at the doctor as shown throughout the book.

The pop-up section has information on both sides.   One side will give detailed information about the various systems – respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, muscular and skeletal.    Then once you open this section completely the coolest thing happens, you see a human body with all it’s systems coming out of the pages - literally.   The head, the thoracic cage as well as the intestine can be opened and explored by the kids.

I applause the creativity of the creators behind this book because they have thought of using many areas to explain the human body.   Many publishers wouldn’t have though of putting information behind the pop-up section but it is the case for this book.    And having a human body popping-up the way this one is doing is marvelous when teaching anatomy as part of our homeschool. 

I would highly recommend this book for everyone as the kids can touch and feel as well as see where everything goes in our bodies.    It is perfect to illustrate the human body in its fullness!
