Antonio Meets His Match - Hermie & Friends #14

Antonio Meets His Match – Hermie and Friends # 14 DVD
From Max Lucado
Published at Tommy Nelson

About the DVD
A rude foreigner moves into the garden, testing Antonio's patience.

Antonio should probably be called “Brave Ant”, for the heroic way he leads his Army Ants in defending the garden from, say, Big Bully Croaker. But when some foreign ants move into the garden, their strange ways challenge Antonio to use something other than physical strength and military experience to solve a problem. Featuring Tim Conway as Hermie and special guest-star Fred Willard (“Wall-E”, “Kim Possible”, “Chicken Little”, etc) and includes the original song “How Could Anyone Not Love Me” and the cartoon short "Caterpilla" (a spoof of Cinderella). Lesson is based on Luke 10:27 "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." (ICB)

Who is Max Lucado?
Max Lucado, Minister of Writing and Preaching for the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, is the husband of Denalyn and father of Jenna, Andrea, and Sara. In a good week he reads a good book, has a few dinners with his wife, and breaks 90 on the golf course. He usually settles for the first two.

My Thoughts
Today was a special day. According to a site where I pick the special days I post on facebook, it is popcorn day. So I wanted to make popcorn as a snack for my kids this morning. What goes well with popcorn? A movie! And fortunately, I had just received the new DVD from Hermie & Friends – Antonio Meets His Match the previous day.

So we sat down, me and the four kids, and watch Antonio learn about loving his neighbours. Antonio is good at a lot of things – especially sports. The whole movie starts with the Fruit Olympics. I thought it was interesting that some Olympics were part of the movie as we are just around the corner for the winter Olympics here in Canada. But then, after the Fruit Olympics, Antonio and his friends meet his new neighbours – the red ants.

These ants are not so nice and it is hard for Antonio and the others to love them. But God speak to Antonio and encourage him to love his new neighbours. But no matter what Antonio do, the red ants are just plain mean or not appreciative. Still God encourage Antonio. Turns out that there will be a competition between Antonio and the leader of the red ants! These games reminded me of the Highland Games held each year in town.

In the end, the ants do learn to appreciate each other and their gifts. It is a great movie for kids to learn to love their neighbours. Also, I think it was pretty interesting to have God speak directly to the ant to tell him what to do. Kids are then introduced to the fact that God do speak to us and it is important to seek his advice about various situations in our life. Finally, how can I not mention that Mrs. Ladybug and her two kids are part of the movie? This was indeed and highlight for me since I just love the ladybugs... *grin*

This was our first DVD about Hermie & Friends and we enjoyed it while eating our popcorn!

This review was possible because I received a free copy of the DVD Antonio Meets His Match from Thomas Nelson.

The DVD Antonio Meets His Match is available at your favourite Christian bookstore near you as well as on amazon.ca!

Molly Gets Organized All In One Place

Molly Gets Organized All In One Place
Published at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine

For certain things I consider myself quite organized. Like for example, I LOVE to plan our trips; where we will camp for a reasonable price, what we will see and discover, identify the places to visit and so on. But I must be honest and tell you that for household chores, I am not as organized. It’s quite a mystery why this household organization has skipped a generation. Well, it’s not that I am totally dis-organized but more that I procrastinate about it.

Because when I am fed up with the mess around me, I can work quite fast and the house looks way better. For example, this morning I took some time in our school room to place where the books and lessons should be going. Mind you the mess wasn’t my fault. Seems to me that the kids have trouble to put the things where they should go. So I need to help them get over this dis-organization... *grin*

The new Molly Gets Organized – All In One Place contains excerpts on – yes you guessed it – organization from the Molly’s 2009 Digests. So if you are one of her devoted followers and own ALL the Molly’s 2009 Digests, I doubt that this will be new to you. But for me, who hasn’t gotten all the digests of last year, I learned quite a lot.

This e-book will help you to create a home inventory, store your receipts, create new furniture (with old ones) to store some of your things (I particularly like the pot rack idea!), get some special recipes to help you with your spring cleaning (nothing like saving a bit of money with the cleaning products), gets tips and tricks on holding or shopping yard sales (and the tips for holding one is something I needed as I am thinking that a yard sale is what I need to do so I can sold some of our baby stuff but not until May though!), how to clean up various areas in your house from the garage to your e-books as well as your homeschool products, and finally even something about scrapbooking!

As you can see this e-book, Molly Gets Organized – All In One Place is packed with information. I realized for certain things like organizing the closets and cleaning the fridge I do it regularly. But I also realized that I need to work on other areas in our house (starting with the guest room!) we need to roll up the sleeves and work on it. I enjoyed reading the ideas found in Molly Gets Organized. It was an eye opener for sure!

Molly Gets Organized – All In One Place is available at The Old Schoolhouse store for a low price of 7.95$ US. Get yours today if you need some ideas to organize your household...

Church plans got changed

So I got up this morning and did my bible reading.   We were planning to go to church as a family but then my husband realized that Jérémy had a red rash on one side of his face.

Poor kid.   Not being sure what it was, we decided that I would go to church with Alexandre and Dominic and hubby will stay home with the younger two.   Well, it was a wise decision because when I got back from church the rash was larger on his right side.

Not fun.   I remember that Alexandre had something similar to that when he was younger.

*sigh*
