About the book
"Every Person on This Planet Has Disappeared."

Commander Christopher Burke and his crew are humanity's greatest explorers. They've finished their mission on the red dirt of Mars and now they just want to get back to Earth. To see friends, family, and loved ones. To be home.

But even with communication to ground control cut and a perilous landing, nothing could prepare the crew for what they discover when they step foot back on planet Earth.

Everyone ... everywhere ... is gone.

It's not a dream. It's not a trick.

Now Burke and his team have one mission: find out who or what is behind the disappearance of all mankind.

My thoughts
Space – the final frontier… I do sound like a Star Trek intro… So let me start over.

Mars is a planet some would like to visit. Already we have sent some sort of device to take picture of it. The next step would be to send people there you would think… Well this is exactly what happened in the story of this book settled in the year 2033. Two and a half years before astronauts were send on Mars to investigate and explore the big red planet. As they are planning to come back home, they lost contact with NASA and continue their journey without knowing why the communication has been cut off.

After a dramatic landing, they realized that no one is there to welcome them. No security crew coming to check on them, no medical personnel, no NASA officials…. Where is everyone? After looking around and trying to figure out the next step to do, they realize that the answer they are seeking might be somewhere in Houston. So off they go… not without experiencing some difficulties, incidents and finding someone on the way. Could it be that they are not the only one left on Earth?

The more they get closer to their objective, the more strange events happen. So strange that they wonder what is going on and what will they find when they reach Houston!
The events happening will keep any reader sitting on the edge of his/her chair. I find this book being a good science fiction novel. However, I am a bit disappointed with the reference to the fact of some artifacts being brought to our world through a rip in the veil separating us from the divine world. I find it quite disturbing actually. I think I would have preferred some other kind of divine intervention to resolve the plot of this book. If God wants to tell us something, I doubt that he would send a dead person to do it…

Having said this, I must say that the book is pretty interesting and can keep you on the edge from beginning till the end. I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much because I don’t read a lot of science fiction kind of novels. But I did and I know that my husband would like it too. So I have strongly recommended that he reads it. Right now he is in the midst of reading some leadership books but as soon as he is done with them, this book would be a potential.

If you like science fiction and you want to read something different, I recommend Offworld. It will make you wonder until the end what happened to the rest of the people and animals living on Earth. Where did they go? Is it alien? Or something else?

Still wondering if this book would be for you? How about watching this video and then decide…

Offworld is available everywhere even on amazon.ca and indigo.ca.

  1. I found the ending somewhat unconvincing, and I didn't feel like it fit the rest of the book, which wasn't quite mystical enough to lead naturally to it. I might have been happier with aliens :).
