About the book
Set at an experimental community on Mars in the year 2039-2040, Robot Wars features 14-year-old virtual reality specialist Tyce Sanders. Life on the Red Planet is not always easy, but it is definitely exciting. As Tyce explores his strange surroundings, he finds that the mysteries of the planet point to his greatest discovery—a new relationship with God. He talks about his growing faith and curiosity in a manner that kids can relate to as they are probably wondering some of the same things.
Book four, Counterattack, opens with Tyce and some of the Mars Project’s staff captured in a prison; they end up in prison while carrying out a special mission on Earth. Tyce has to figure out a way to fulfill their mission and rescue kids—all before a world war breaks out.
My Thoughts
This book will definitively keep you on the edge. Packed with action and mystery you wonder at every page what will happen next. Though the series started slowly and build up the suspense until book three, this book is getting close to the conclusion of the adventure and contains lots of events.
Like the previous book, Counterattack includes two journal entries. The first one picks up where book three ended and how the main characters got arrested when they arrived on Earth. What arrested? How come? What happened? Well this journal entry will uncover what happened and you will experience the excitement of the run against time to try to stop someone to do something. The second journal pursue the adventure and you will team up with adults to try to thwart the evil plan destined to hurt the way things are on Earth. But will Tyce and his friends be able to stop them in time?
Of all the books from the series so far, I think I enjoyed this one better because it is packed with suspense and action. I know that when Alex picks up the books to read them himself, he won’t be able to stop by this point and will just want to know what will happen next. I know because he is a copy of me and right now I can’t wait to pursue the reading of the last book and discover how it will end.
This book is a science fiction genre and might not please every kids. But I think it has enormous potential as it is a great series to discover. If you are wondering which books to put in your son or daughter hands for summer readings, I would like to suggest the Robot Wars series.
Robot Wars Book 4 Counterattack is available at your favourite bookstore, even amazon.ca.
