My Thoughts
When I received this book, my then nine years old made a beeline towards it and started reading it. His first reaction was “Cool!”. After reading some of it, he was asking me if I knew about various things he had learned.
I also read the book and though it’s size is quite large but the pages are limited, I must say that it is packed with tons of information. While discovering the legends around the dragons, the reader has to open little envelopes and unfold the information about various civilizations like Babylon, Greece, China, America, United Kingdom and South Africa. While going through the book, you will discover other booklets, folded pages and so on which will guide through your investigation on dragons.
Take the eyewitness booklet for example. In it I was able to discover what Marco Polo, John of Damascus, Athanasius Kircher, Alexander the Great, and Job have to say about the accounts and encounters with dragons. You will also find some Biblical connections with Dragons, read the stories of saints and slayers who have came face to face with dragons and learn dragon names in various languages. I was impressed that the Canadian Nessie in the Okanagan Lake was mentioned but disappointed that nothing was mentioned about the Memphremagog Lake creature. But I do understand that if we would have listed all the sightings, the book would have been bigger…
If you boy is particularly interested in dragons and wonder what happened to them, this book will help him discover and understand the fate of these animals. It will give him a Christian perspective of the existence of dragons in the past.
Dragons: Legends & Lore of Dinosaurs is available at your favourite bookstore, even amazon.ca.
