My Thoughts
This specific devotional is based on the book Lysa Terkeurst has previously written – Unglued. I did not have the privilege to read and review the book itself but I can say without hesitation that the devotional is encouraging for me. I am a woman of high emotions and I have to learn not to vent out loud on social media or to explode when a child push the right buttons on me. Reading and savouring the devotions included in this book helped me to learn to live by grace, to become a positive role model for my kids and to learn to resolve conflicts when it comes to relationships.
As women we know that our emotions can sometimes take over our common sense and it can get ugly if we explode toward people. I know I lost my temper more than once when it comes to my own children. I was raised a single child and I have four kids. I have never really understood siblings rivalry and always said that some kids should be happy to have siblings. So when my kids are bickering against each other or when my strong willed son refuse to do something for his homeschool my brain will loose it and my mouth can say mean things. I have learned to take a deep breath and seek out God while reading this devotional book.
Each devotion opens up with a daily opening Scripture, a thought of the day, the devotion itself and a closing prayer. It can be taken alongside of the Unglued book or by itself. It will guide you in order to break the cycle of exploding or stuffing your emotions. Motherhood is so much better when you can control the reactions you might have on silly things. I have found myself a bit more peaceful when a bump of the road happens. I recall taking myself in my room to calm down a couple of times.
Unglued Devotional is a great book for homeschoolers and moms. We all know how busy life can be when you homeschool multiple children. It is essential to learn to control the emotions in order to be a great example to your children. This book will help you to walk on the path of becoming more calm.
Unglued is available for purchase at your favourite bookstore, even amazon.ca and amazon.com.
The book is also available on Kindle and Kindle app.
