My Thoughts

Build the same way as the other Audubon apps, the Insects and Spiders app will allow you to discover more about species you might encounter during your outings especially camping…

The app allows you to access a quick guide as well as search by family and common name.    And advanced search is also available and with it you can find more information about a specific insect or spider through selecting a shape, an habitat, a region, a color and a size.

As I mentioned, camping is a perfect way to discover new insect and spider.    We have encountered quite a few while spending time in the woods around our campground.    One summer, we discovered a large spider in the kids’ room which quickly found it’s way back in the outdoors…

This summer we encountered many insects and saw this little fellow below.

When you have found the insect/spider you are looking for, you will be able to read its description. learn more about its habitat and where it can be found.  You can also discover its life cycle as well.

I find the Audubon apps to be very instructive while exploring the woods and nature that surrounds us.   It is definitively perfect for homeschooler and for anyone wanting to learn more about the wildlife.

NOTE: Audubon Insects and Spiders — A Field Guide to North American Insects and Spiders does not include moths and butterflies. These can be found in Audubon Butterflies.

Audubon Insects and Spiders– a Field Guide to North America Insects and Spiders is available for purchase on iTunes for the price of 9.99$.
