Our Thoughts
I really didn’t know what to expect when I settle with the kids to watch this DVD. I knew it was a creation science type of DVD where a fourteen-year-old was hosting but that’s about it. I was blown away by the quality and the information found in this DVD. Though at some times I could see that the same image was use as background, the teaching presented in this DVD is an absolute must for any Christian homeschool families.
One of my dreams is to bring my family RVing around Canada and the US. Not sure when and how it will happen but let me tell you that after watching this DVD (as well as the 2nd episode on Yellowstone), this dream is even more present in my heart. This video will open your eyes on God’s hands in everything around us whether big or small. Not only will you discover how the Grand Canyon was created during the flood but you will get a better understanding of creation science in the process. There are terms that will be hard to understand for little ones but mine sat and watched Noah Justice explains how the Biblical record can be trusted as Earth’s history book – literally!
There is also a study guide available for the DVD. The study guide contains activities to help the information you have learned while watching the DVD sink into your brain and being absorb. There will be fill in the blanks, discussion questions, true/false questions, as well as bonus activities to do. My only disappointment for this study guide is that I can’t put it in the DVD case as it is slightly too big. It would have been nice if it could be inserted in the DVD case. I hope that the publisher will keep that in mind for future study guide on future DVDs on this series. Having the study guide tucked inside the DVD case will help us avoid searching for it when you need it.
This first DVD is part of a DVD series titles Awesome Science. So far three titles are available covering the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Meteor Crater/Petrified Forest. Other titles will be produced later this year on Yosemite and Zion National Parks, Mt. St. Helens and John Day Fossil Beds. After watching this DVD I was totally hooked and proceeded to watch episode 2 which is about Yellowstone but that’s for another review!
If you are looking for strong evidence on the creation science in the nature, I would like to suggest that you consider checking out the Awesome Science DVD series. Though it says that the DVD could be watched by children, I would like to suggest that kids should be about the age of 8 and up to comprehend the information presented. Though my 4 and 6 years old did stay put and watched the DVD I am uncertain of the understanding. For example, their favorite part was the bloopers that you can find on the DVD. They laughed like crazy while watching it. Yeah, they are young but they watched the whole video no problem and I am assuming that their brain acted like a sponge in absorbing the information. This DVD will definitively found it’s way to the DVD player numerous times as the kids grow up.
Awesome Science – Explore the Grand Canyon with Noah Justice DVD and Study Guide is available at your favorite Christian bookstore. I am disappointed that the DVD is not available on amazon.ca but I did find the Study Guide though. I wish more Christian DVDs supporting creation science would find their way on amazon.ca.
