Let this epic rendition draw you into all the excitement of the world's most awesome story.

Who is Sergio Cariello?

Sergio Cariello was born in Brazil, in 1964 and started drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil.   At the age of 5, he already knew that he wanted to be a cartoonist.  And so did everyone else – he drew on church bulletins, napkins and every surface within his reach.

Since those early beginnings, Sergio has worked for Marvel Comics and DC Comics.  He attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art as well as the Word of Life Bible Institute.

In February 2006, he was contacted by David C Cook to gauge his interest in a new project: completely re-illustrating Cook’s classic picture Bible.  What David C. Cook couldn’t know, is that Sergio had grown up in Brazil with a Portuguese translation of that very same picture bible.  Even though he knew as a kid that he wanted to be a comic artist, he never would have dreamed he would one day get to work on the picture bible itself!

Sergio currently resides in Florida with his wife Luzia.

My Thoughts

Have you ever read the Picture Bible?  If so, you will be pleased to know that David C Cook has revamped and renamed it to the Action Bible.  If you have never seen the Picture Bible, grab your coat, jump in the car and drive to the nearest bookstore you have to discover the new and marvelous Action Bible

When I saw this Bible, I knew that we needed a copy of it for our house.   We are comic book fans and love to read comics every once in a while.   Some might say that we are crazy to have so many comics in our house – from Batman to Superman including Astérix and Tintin (in French) we encourage our kids to read them.

This Action Bible will brings you and your kids to discover and visualize the main stories of the Bible.   The drawings are fabulous and full of colors.   The action is pictured in such a way that kids of all ages will be digging more in their Bible.    When I received this new product I immediately showed it to my husband.   He basically learned reading while going through comic books.  He even had a copy of the Picture Bible when he was younger.    What was his reaction?   This is what he said:`

“Wow!” and after flipping through the book “FINALLY a publisher has made a comic book Bible that looks amazing!   I can’t wait to go through it myself.”  *grin*

You see I knew he would get excited about this specific Bible.   And I also knew that my nine year old would be enthusiastic when he see it.   So guess who saw it next?   Yes – Alexandre’s eyes popped out of their sockets when he saw the cover.   And he was very thrilled to see it.   Problem is, mommy was leaving for a retreat and was bringing the Action Bible with her to explore it more.   And I did.   I even read it while away for the week-end.

At home I had taken the time to compared the Picture Bible with the Action Bible.   The major changes are definitively the graphics which are more interesting and will keep the interest of your kids (young and old).   The text itself seems to be similar between the two bibles.

I am strongly recommending the Action Bible to every Christian families.   This has a place in every household has it tells the story with a different perspective and help the kids to visualize the stories.

Check out this cool little advertisement for the Action Bible.   It is priceless!
