Redakai: Conquer the Kairu is a kids series starring Ky, a 15-year-old student of ancient martial arts who embarks on an incredible quest to find the Kairu, a primordial alien energy force. Helped by his friends Maya and Boomer, Ky travels the globe looking for the Kairu to protect it from his extraterrestrial teenage opponents, with the hope that one day he will become the greatest Kairu warrior of them all – a Redakai.
Spin Masters has resently teamed up with Zodiak Kids/Marathon Media to create Redakai a ground-breaking innovation in gaming, taking trading cards to the next level with amazing Blast3D technology. Never before have trading cards contained 3D and animation effects like Redakai. A new “Stack to battle” gaming advancement automatically tracks your progress and allows you to see the damaging effects of your attacks. Redakai is the follow-up to Spin Master’s hit entertainment property and cultural phenomenon Bakugan.
Our Thoughts
Our family do not have cable so my kids are not familiar with the television show on the Cartoon Network or with with characters for that matter. However, from what I have seen in the documentation, explanations and demonstrations I think that my two oldest boys will be highly interested in this new game. It is easy to play and will help them to develop strategy skills in the long run. I also find that it is a great way to apply their math lessons has they have to add/deduct the effects it would have on their opponent.
The fact that the cards are three dimensions and that when you attack the cards you can see the immediate effect it has on your character is very ingenious. These cards sound like a fun way to spend some down time after some hard work during school. And the kids can exchange cards as well if they want.
We usually don’t let our kids play this kind of games but the interaction of the cards and the fact that they can develop strategy skills and mathematical skills during the play makes the Redakai game interesting. The reader will allow your child to follow the game and plan in advance his attacks.

Hey, I was seeing this game and it looks like with the "Basic Game" you don't actually need reading skills and the cards seem pretty sturdy... would you think a 3 going on 4 year old would be able to have fun playing this with daddy?
