About the book

A fact-packed drawing and coloring book that will change the way you look at learning!

Sharpen your pencils as well as your thinking with this interactive coloring doodle book. Fun, informative, and entirely unique, this encyclopedia gets kids thinking and learning by placing them right in the action. Readers are tasked with completing drawings, creating illustrations, coloring images, adding finishing touches, and designing their own scenes-learning about science, space, nature, people, technology, popular culture, and more along the way!

Reading has never been so hands-on.

My Thoughts

This past month, we were camping in the area of Whitchurch-Stouffville while my husband had a contract close by.   We did fun outings and some school as well but to keep my sanity, I had planned in advanced and requested a wonderful book from DK Canada.   Usually, I don’t ask for multiple copies of a book but in this case I decided that I should try to get more than one just because of the special presentation of this book.   I was delighted when I got a positive response from DK Canada and received four copies of Doodlepedia.

Doodlepedia is part a coloring book and part a mini encyplopedia since it gives tidbits of information about specific subjects.

So one cold morning, when we couldn’t really do school outside, I decided to take the books out after the kids had done they work.    They were delighted at the surprised and immediately proceeded to discover the book.   Each of them had their own copy which made it easy to manage for me!  *grin*

What I particularly like about Doodlepedia is that I can see how different the creativity of my kids can be.   Each and single one of them will pick their own colors and design various things while going through the book.    My oldest son decided to complete the chameleons pages while the other kids went to explore other pages within the book.  Even my husband was impressed by the book when he saw it at the end of the day.

Now the books are not completed yet.    But it does keep my kids busy for quite some time when they take it out.    Though we have came back home, I decided to leave the Doodlepedia books in the trailer so they can pursue their creativity when we are there.

This book is definitively perfect for keeping the kids busy during the summertime or during a trip.  Though geared for kids ages 6 to 12, my four year old daughter has a ton of fun doing it with her big brothers.    DK Canada is also coming out with a girl version and a boy version of Doodlepedia in the coming months.

Doodlepedia can be found at any bookstore, even amazon.ca.
