What’s in the Bible Volume 5 – Israel Gets A King!

About the DVD
In What’s in the Bible? volume 5, Buck Denver and cast take us through 1 and 2 Samuel. The two episodes focus on three of the most influential kings of Israel (Saul, David, and Solomon). And the Tricky Bits section explains the Trinity (after we learn that the Spirit of the Lord fell upon David). The DVD highlights God’s promise to David and how the promise impacts the salvation story. We also see what happens when David (and the other kings) sin against God. Kids learn that there are consequences for sin!
From the man who made vegetables talk (and sing, dance, and tell Bible stories) comes an engaging new series that walks kids through the entire Bible! Each DVD is filled with an entertaining cast of characters that bring the most powerful Bible stories to life using humor, animation, creative storytelling, and fun songs. Join VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer on a wild and zany journey and see the world’s most amazing book come to life for a new generation.
In 1990, 24-year-old computer animator Phil Vischer sat down to create a group of characters that could teach Christian values to kids in a delightfully weird way. Hence, a tomato named Bob and a cucumber named Larry were born. VeggieTales would go on to revolutionize Christian filmmaking, selling more than 50 million videos and placing Phil's faith-filled stories in one in every three American households with young children. Phil is highly respected by key leaders across the Christian landscape, from Joel Osteen to James Dobson. His company, Jellyfish Labs, provides faith-based daily programming via the Internet at jellytelly.com. The characters from the What's in the Bible? series are featured, but the content is not specifically from the DVDs. Phil continues to pursue innovative ways to integrate faith and storytelling through Jellyfish Labs. He chose the name Jellyfish as a reminder to remain pliable to God's plans and not his own. Phil lives with his wife, Lisa, and their three kids in Illinois.
Our Thoughts
We are die-hard fans of the videos of What’s in The Bible. All the ones we watched (we are missing volume 4) so far are very informative and will teach the kids (and you the parent) about the various books of the Bible. I think it is an awesome project that Phil Visher is working on. With humor and the help of puppets, the DVDs of What’s in the Bible? will guide through the Bible and highlights that important lessons of the books. When the project will be finished, the series will have 13 DVDS that will explain the entire Bible to your kids (and you!)
This particular episode is once again divided in two parts. Part one is titled “The People Want a King!” and covers 1 Samuel and the life of Saul as Israel’s first king. In part two, you will go through the book of 2 Samuel and the first chapter of 1 Kings which include the reigns of King David and hi son, King Solomon. This part is titled “Kings Make Mistakes Too!” The originality of the video as well as the fast-pace lessons will catch the interest of your kids. Even if it is geared toward older kids, my 3 and 5 years old enjoys them as much as their older brothers of 7 and almost 10.
We love the way the information is presented in these DVDs. It is clear and very visual which means you can easily recall the information later on. My kids keeps talking about what they have learned for days after watching a DVD of What’s in the Bible?. This particular video contains the same creativity and loving characters as before. Learning with visuals, songs, illustrations and cool characters is always fun. And it stick on your mind. This product is particularly interesting for homeschool, Sunday school and bible study. I am challenging every parents to sit with their kids to watch the What’s in The Bible? dvds. Your family will be have a great time together – guaranteed!
As a member of the What’s In The Bible Street Team, I am planning to distribute the pins I have received to various people. I will also talk about the DVDs and offer to open my house for a viewing. Having received the DVD #5 on April 28th, I had little time to organize myself and plan something to spread the word in time for the blog tour. Being in Canada has some disadvantages sometimes when it comes to get the products in time for blog tours.
However, to catch your curiosity, I can post this little video that will give you an idea of this wonderful series that will bring you through the Bible in ways you can’t even imagine…
You can even download your own coloring pages and popsicle stick theater images for your own pleasure…
