About the book
We have questions. Child-like inquiries. And deep, heavy ones.
In more than twenty-five years of writing and ministry, Max Lucado has been the receiving line for thousands of such questions. The questions come in letters, e-mails, even on Dunkin Donuts napkins. In Max on Life he offers thoughtful answers to more than 150 of the most pressing questions on topics ranging from hope to hurt, from home to the hereafter.
Max writes about the role of prayer, the purpose of pain, and the reason for our ultimate hope. He responds to the day-to-day questions—parenting quandaries, financial challenges, difficult relationships—as well as to the profound: Is God really listening?
A special addendum includes Max’s advice on writing and publishing.
Including topical and scriptural indexes and filled with classic Lucado encouragement and insight, Max on Life will quickly become a favorite resource for pastors and ministry leaders as well as new and mature believers.
My Thoughts
This book is a welcome addition in any household. There are so many things that we might find ambiguous and sometimes don’t know how to interpret the Bible. Max Lucado comes to the rescue with answering the most frequent questions he has encountered as a writer/minister.
The questions and answers cover subjects like
- Hope: God, Grace, and “Why am I here?”
- Hurt: Conflicts, calamities, and “Why me?”
- Help: Prayer, Scripture, and “Why church?”
- Him/Her: Sec, Romance, and “Any chance of a second chance?”
- Home: Diapers, Disagreements, and “Any hope for prodigals?”
- Haves/ Have-Nots: Work, Money, and “Where’s the lifeline?”
- Hereafter: cemeteries, Heaven, Hell, and “Who goes where?”
The answers from Max are precise, concise and clear. You can easily read it within a minute or two and meditate on it. Max Lucado is a well-known writer and people can trust his answers.
This book reminded me of another similar book from another well-known author. And I think it would be a wonderful book for new Christians as they start their walk with God. I am considering using it also with my kids when situations arise. The answers are easy to understand and straight to the point. From these answers, someone can easily research more on the subject. Even being a Christian since 1997, I myself has questions sometimes and I will make sure to dig into Max On Life to see if Max Lucado has an answer for me.
Max on Life is available at your favorite bookstore, even amazon.ca.
