2010_05_08_17_16_50Mother’s Day is coming… I know it is funny to talk about Mother’s Day when Easter is not even passed but it is coming nevertheless.
May 8th is the date this year…  The 2nd Sunday of the month.
Mother's Day is intended to be a day to celebrate motherhood. Many churches and families in the United States recognize the second Sunday in May to honor mothers.   Did you know that the first known suggestion of Mother's Day in the United States was in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe?  She suggested that people observe the day on June 2 as a day dedicated to peace. Others around the country campaigned for a Mother's Day including Mary Towles Sasseen, Frank E. Hering, and Anna Jarvis.  In 1908, Anna Jarvis of West Virginia began a campaign for a nationwide observance of Mother's Day. She chose the second Sunday in May and started the custom of wearing a carnation.  If a person wears a colored carnation, their mother is is living.  A white carnation signifies that their mother has passed away.
To put emphasis on the fact that Mother’s Day is approaching, Tiny Prints has asked bloggers to blog about something related to motherhood…
I decided to answer the following question:
What has been – to date – your best Mother’s Day ever? It’s a bitter/sweet day that doesn’t always go exactly the way we’d hope! What made your best Mother’s Day ever super special?
2010_05_09_07_48_04I have four kids – ages 3, 5, 7 and almost 10.   Last year, they have cook with their dad a wonderful breakfast for me.   Crepes filled with marvelous fruits and topped with whipped cream and maple syrup.    YUMMY!   This delicious breakfast was simply amazing.   Lots of efforts was2010_05_08_17_16_42 made to make my mother’s day breakfast/week-end special.   They even bought a wonderful cheesecake topped with the BEST MOM! chocolate disk on it…    We ate that one the previous night.   It was a beautiful week-end of showing their love for me.
I also wanted to take individual pictures of each of the kids with me.   Jasmine was 2 years old, Jeremy was 4, Dominic was 6 and Alexandre was almost 9 years old.    When I look at  these pictures and look at my kids today, I can’t stop to wonder how time flies.   They grow so much in a year it is incredible.   Each of them are extra special to us as we had been told that our chances to ever have kids of our own was almost impossible.   But after prayers and trust in God, we were blessed with these four wonderful individual which are  different from one another.

What made my Mother’s Day special?  Simply spending it with my family and receiving their love in various ways over the week-end.    It was nice to have them around me (even when I spend most of my days around them as we are homeschooling).   Somehow have a special breakfast and a delicious cake made it more special to my eyes.    My kids are growing so fast…  I hope that even when they are older they will either call me or visit on Mother’s Day!
