What’s In The Bible? DVDs
Created by Phil Visher (yes the guy behing VeggieTales!)In partnership with Tyndale Publishers
I first got introduce to the concept of What’s In The Bible? through an about JellyTelly. I thought it was interesting and wondered if this would come on DVDs one day. Well, available right now in a Christian bookstore near you is What’s In The Bible? DVDs. Right now Episodes 1 and 2 are available but I am certain that more of these will come soon on the market.
As much as Veggie Tales would be geared for kids ages 2-5, I think that this new series is more for kids ages 6 and over. Mind you, Veggie Tales is a favorite in our household even for the older kids aged 38 and 40… *grin* And I am certain that What’s In The Bible? will help kids of all ages to learn more things from it.
I’ve sat down one afternoon to go through the advance viewer copy I’ve received and there is a lot of things that I have learned from it. An example is the history behind the fact that the bibles from different church groups (i.e. Catholics, Orthodox’s and Protestants) do not have the same books in it. Well Mr. Pirate explained it very well.
Before I go further in my review, you must be wondering why Phil Visher would start a new DVD series. Well, his point is that he wants to bring to kids to know their Bible from cover to cover and understand it better. I was totally impressed with this because I sense that sometimes kids are not encouraged to dig deep into the Word of God.
To be honest with you, I have been a Christian since 1997 and not until this year I had taken the decision of reading through the Bible from cover to cover. Oh! I know the Bible stories but I never work on the discipline of doing so throughout the year. And to be honest, I love it. Currently I am reading through Judges and enjoy it quite a lot. Even my 8 ¾ year old son is going through the book of John right now and when he will be done with it, he wants to read more from the New Testament. I pray and hope that my three younger children will want to discover God’s Word by themselves once they are old enough.
The series is quite different than Veggie Tales. What’s In The Bible? is presented and lead by a group of puppets which will make you smile and laugh with their comments and silly songs. Seriously though, learning is guaranteed with this DVD series. Learning while having fun that is! And seeing the connection of God’s Word in our life and through history is so important I find.
Both DVDs contain two 25-minutes shows. Episode 1 is titled In The Beginning and covers “What is the Bible?” and “Who wrote the Bible?”. Episode 2 title is Let My People Go and
EPISODE 1 is called In The Beginning and in it the kids will learn about
- “What is the Bible?” How is put together? Kids learn alongside Buck Denver, Sunday School Lady, Brother Louie and the crew that the Bible tells the story of God and what He’s done for us.
- “Who wrote the Bible?” Next, Buck and friends learn how God inspired people to write the Bible. They also learn how the first part of Genesis sets the stage for the rest of the Bible – and all of history!
- “Who chose the books of the Bible?” Buck Denver and friends learn how the Old Testament and New Testament books were chosen to be in the Bible. They also dive into the second part of Genesis to learn how God used a family to launch His big rescue plan!
- “What is salvation?” Learn words like “salvation” and “redemption” as we dive into God’s big rescue plan – how He saved the Israelites from Egypt and how he wants to save us from sin – a tiny word that causes huge trouble.
Thank you Phil Visher for this new DVD series. I look forward to discover the read of the serie as it is released on the market.

ReplyDeleteI am so happy to learn about this series. How cool that it plans to go all the way through the Bible, yet is geared towards a younger child's understanding level.

I really enjoyed reading the review from the Rochester journalist and how Vischer explained how this new series is the "connective tissue" tying the different Bible stories together! Sounds like a fantastic series.
