Dancing With My Father

Dancing With My Father

Written by Sally Clarkson
Published at Waterbrook

About the book
The reality of living in a broken, fallen world can leave women feeling overcome by fear, guilt, and weariness. Many develop “sawdust souls,” numb to any sense of joy.

In this warm and wise book, author Sally Clarkson invites readers to take God’s hand and let Him lead them into a life of anticipation, passion, and purpose. With the voice of a trusted mentor, she reveals how, by getting in tune with the rhythm of God’s presence, women can nurture an inner attitude of anticipation and celebration even in the stressful seasons of life.

Through rich biblical insights woven with real-life stories, women will be inspired to recapture a spirit of joy as they follow God’s lead on the dance floor of life.

My Thoughts
Last year, we experienced a hard time. With the economy being what it is right now, it was a difficult time for many people including us. But at the same time, it was a great year for spiritual growth I find.

Oh there was a time when we were wondering what God was doing and what we should do but He was there no matter what. We just needed to change our ways of thinking. Once we have turned to Him and trust Him with every aspect of our lives, including finances, we felt more joy and peace about the whole situation. As I write this, we are still wondering what he is doing but somehow He has blessed us on many ways including the finances.

So when I had the opportunity of reviewing Dancing With My Father, I jumped on it because I want to be more dependent on Him and trust Him even more. I want to dance with Him through life and let Him guide me and my family toward where He wants us to be.

The author has chosen interesting titles for each of the chapters of the book. Each has some sort of connotation with music or dance. You will read about her experiences in life as well as read interesting quotes or scriptures related to dancing. At the end of each chapter, you will find a section called Finding Your Rhythm in God’s Joy which will give you thought provoking questions to ponder on the information you have just read. Then after spending some time to think about your life and how you can apply joy in it, the author suggest a prayer that you can say to God.

I enjoyed reading this book and it gave me a new perspective on how I can find joy in my life even though things are not what I had expecting. I don’t know what God has in mind for the years to come. We, as a family, are looking forward to see what He will bring in our lives. I hope that JOY will be part of it no matter what it is!
